Check out the latest publication from ’s LifeSPAN Autism Lab as they continue their prolific and impactful research on intellectual disabilities 👀

Our team just published a paper examining how daily living skills and cognitive ability relate to one another over time in autistic individuals with intellectual disability. Using longitudinal data from early childhood through adulthood, we found that when daily living skills are examined by domain, most participants showed skills that matched or exceeded their cognitive abilities. These findings challenge common assumptions and highlight the importance of including autistic individuals with intellectual disability in research.

GSAPP Story

Since the establishment of Psychological Clinic in 1929 and the school’s founding in 1974, Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) has become the “gold standard” in the education and training of qualified and competent direct-service psychologists.

GSAPP prides itself on preparing outstanding practitioners and scholars who benefit from the mentorship provided in our doctoral programs in School Psychology and Clinical Psychology - both accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association. Relatively small class sizes afford students individualized attention and opportunities to work closely with our distinguished faculty in developing students’ professional skills and identity as practitioners and scholars. As a student at GSAPP, you will also have access to a vibrant network of successful GSAPP alumni. These relationships between faculty, students, and alumni last beyond our students' graduation as evidenced by our active and robust alumni organization.

Being an applied professional school of psychology in the 21st century, GSAPP has embraced its responsibility to prepare psychologists who are equipped to face contemporary challenges and to facilitate ongoing professional training for postgraduates and members of our community. We commit to diversity, diversity of theoretical orientations, appreciation of individual differences and preparing culturally competent students who are educated and trained in an environment that embraces and respects differences.
