My postpartum clients LOVE these 👇🏽

Mid-Back Fascial stretches to relieve that mid-back tightness or discomfort from holding and feeding your baby (ies)

Head to the ground and try these options:
✨forearm side bends
✨forearm reaches
✨quadruped swivels
✨forearm back body spread

These movements all help to target the Thoracolumbar fascia in the middle of your back.

What is it?

Fascia is the band of thin, Woven connective tissue that wraps around and supports every structure in your body. It’s a continuous layer of tissue like a spider web that’s flexible and able to resist tension.

Our fascia is EVERYWHERE!
We have superficial fascia just beneath the skin.
Deep/musculoskeletal fascia on bones and joints.
Visceral fascia to support our organs.
Even Neural fascia which surrounds nervous system structures.

What are some of the functions of Fascia?
Force transmission
Movement coordination/posture
Structural and organ support
Proprioception
Circulation of body fluids (lymph, blood flow, etc)

How to love and support your FASCIA?
Move your body in all the ways that bring you joy
HYDRATE
Take movement breaks if you’re in the same position for long periods
Breathe well

These hands and knees movements may look simple, but they provide so much benefit!

1. Thoracic Rotation: not only does this feel great to ease mid-back tightness from holding/feeding, this action is key for better breathing by mobilizing the rib cage
2. Quadruped hover: this is a fantastic and functional way to work your core in an accessible way
3. Quadruped hip shift: a powerhouse move with countless benefits including outer hip strength, SI joint mobility, hip internal rotation and more!
