Our firm has been serving the greater South Jersey community with unparalleled customer service. Our family owned and operated company provides Durable Medical Equipment (DME) to patients throughout Southern New Jersey.

A medical equipment Technician is responsible for the delivery of, and education in the use of DME to patients.

The technician drives a van and receives a new route daily. This person delivers, exchanges, sets up and picks up durable medical equipment and respiratory equipment and supplies at the patients’ physical residence. Technicians generally make about 7-10 stops per day.

Technicians are the face of our company in the community. They provide excellent patient care by delivering and setting-up medical equipment, and instructing patients and/or caregivers on the proper use and care of equipment in a compassionate and respectful manner.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Receives a daily route from dispatch and required supply list and prepares the truck for delivery by pulling stock (e.g., wheelchairs, hospital beds, bathroom aids, medical supplies, etc.) and loading equipment on the truck.

Delivers homecare equipment and unloads and sets the equipment to the point it is fully functional. Reviews basic equipment operation and instructs patients and/or caregivers on the proper use and care.

Follows the daily route to pick up and/or exchange equipment. Breaks down, loads and returns equipment to warehouse.

Maintains communication with the home office to relay a change in an order or issues with prescribed orders, position in routes, stock availability and to confirm delivery and pick up of equipment.

Completes and maintains an electronic driver log, vehicle check out and vehicle inspection reports.

Responds to emergency calls and new patient orders during regular business hours and on-call rotation days.

Upon completion of routes, unloads and checks in returned equipment with the warehouse.

Other duties as assigned.

Our company is looking for a kind, hardworking, motivated individual with customer service experience. We are a family run Durable Medical Equipment business with a focus on excellent patient care.

The position requires strong intake capabilities with knowledge or interest in learning about Managed Care, Medicare, and other insurance health plans. ICD-10 and HCPCS knowledge is a plus but not required.

The ideal candidate will be competent with Microsoft Office applications and is team oriented and organized. Bilingual a plus (Eng/Spanish preferred)

Responsibilities
Answer incoming phone calls and faxes, take customer orders for durable medical and respiratory equipment, repairs, supplies, and other miscellaneous items

Maintains open communication with patients/clients and referral sources

Assist walk in customers as needed

Prepares intake, gathers all necessary information about referral, patient demographics, contact person, physician, diagnosis, discharge time and place, item(s) requested

Gathers all necessary documentation, prior to delivery: CMN, Rx, ABG, Care Plan, Auth, etc.

Informs patient of financial responsibilities: copay, share of cost, deductible, etc.

Enters data and each order (new or otherwise) in system accurately and in a timely manner

Match delivery confirmations with file to ensure proper and efficient billing turnaround time.

Reports to work daily and is ready to work at the scheduled start time

Works Saturday assignment (10a-1pm) as needed or scheduled

Performs any other duties that may be requested by supervisor or management

Philips Respironics announced a recall notification (U.S. only) / field safety notice (Outside of U.S.)for Continuous and Non-Continuous Ventilators (certain CPAP, BiLevel PAP and Ventilator Devices) due to two issues related to the polyester-based polyurethane (PE-PUR) sound abatement foam used in these devices.

Sleep and respiratory care updates

We at Bowman Home Medical are purposefully fighting the struggle and prevention of covid 19 transmission, so, our company policy is to only allow curbside and front door service. Front doors are locked and signs are posted indicating this policy. We petitioned Millville to add the handicap parking space in front our office for our customer’s well-being. All customers are informed to call upon arrival or honk twice and we will come to the vehicle with products or supplies.

Dealing with chronically ill patients, we must limit both their and our exposure, so, we are masked and gloved and contact is limited. We realize this is not the most convenient way, but safest. There are chairs located out front of store under the canopy/awning, but we suggest customers remain in their air conditioned vehicle. Also, the majority of our customer contact is at home deliveries for the convenience of the customer. If not home delivery, we schedule appointments to accommodate all patient’s concerns. The severity of the pandemic has put a lot of stress on customers, providers, caregivers and citizens.

During this stressful time ,we have been available 24 hrs per day serving our community and covid patients and will continue to provide our best service.

We have always put customers first and will continue to do so. We are a family run business and pride ourselves on going above and beyond patient’s needs. I will address your concern and strive to encourage empathy for our customers while also adhering to our policies in place to protect them.

**Regarding the Corona Virus and COVID-19**

As your DME and home respiratory equipment provider, our number one priority is the safety of both our employees and our patients.

As a result, we have implemented the following measures:

• Asking patients to complete a screening questionnaire to determine high-risk situations for our employees.

• Social distancing of at least 6 feet is maintained in both the workplace and during home delivery/pickup, whenever possible.

• Our cleaning procedures for all of our equipment have been enhanced.

• We are communicating frequently with our employees regarding the latest guidance and updates from the CDC.

What does this mean for you?

• We need you to let us know if you or anyone in your household is quarantined or has been exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

• You may be asked to place your equipment outside the home for pickup.

• Deliveries may be made to your doorstep, limiting face-to-face contact.

• Routine maintenance and service visits may be postponed until after the crisis has subsided.

• Tank deliveries may be limited as community leaders are encouraging citizens to stay home.

We are also working with other healthcare providers in the community to provide equipment needed for treatment and to assist in a speedy discharge.

We are thankful for your understanding and appreciate your cooperation as we work together to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
