🌤️ELEVATED☁️

The name came first, the meaning, an after-thought. Today was quiet, as we are in the odd pause of time between Thanksgiving and the hardest Monday of the year (post-Super Bowl Monday is a close second). Even in rest, my mind drew back to the word ELEVATE and what I hadn’t unpacked yet. What meaning “elevate” has brought to me.

On the surface, I’m here to provide higher (“elevated”) quality of mental health care. My consultations and trainings are meant to [raise] awareness on subjects that impact public health, like substance use, collective trauma, and violence. I want to create a community of therapists, where we can [lift each other] up and [climb together]
towards our dreams. It’s a cute play on words— but it’s not the deeper meaning.

There’s this little park near the house I grew up in, on a hill just outside of Pittsburgh, with an overlook of one of many bridges our city holds. From the age of 11, I ran to this park at any sign of self discovery and sat on the bench with the best view. Any time I needed to take a breath, I went there. I think that bench has seen more of me than most people have. I learned to write there. I learned to grieve there. I learned to heal there.

I felt myself drawn to higher land through my teens and twenties. Most of my best reflections (and probably most feelings) have happened when I’m closer to the clouds. ELEVATED isn’t about an outcome. It’s not to say that the experience of healing is linear (because I sure as hell know it’s not). It’s finding the place where you feel like you can explore what it means to be human. And I’m honored to take this journey with you. 🌤️⛰️

✨ABOUT ME✨
▫️ My name is Josie and my pronouns are she/her
▫️ I am licensed to practice professional counseling in the state of PA. I obtained my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology in 2020.
▫️ I am fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy and I use this treatment with the majority of my clients.
▫️ I primarily work with survivors of trauma— specifically from sexual and domestic violence, intergenerational & attachment trauma.
▫️ I educate providers across the country in substance use screening + intervention, domestic violence, and more.
