Many people living with HIV have no visible symptoms. Testing is the only way to know your status.

Knowing = power.

Our Mobile Health Team had the opportunity to share our work and give a tour to AHN Leadership at a community event.

These events include community partners and AHN partners providing veterinary care, dietician services, outreach for homelessness, intimate partner violence and health screenings, including HIV and Hepatitis C testing provided by PHC.

This weekend, Center For Inclusion Health Staff (Left to right: Kristi Seemiller, Administrative Director of the Positive Health Clinic, Marilyn Glover, Community Health Worker for Inpatient Addiction Medicine and Cindy Magrini, Program Manager for Positive Health Clinic) attended the 10-year Anniversary celebration for AIDS Free Pittsburgh (AFP). AFP is a public health movement to end the HIV epidemic and Allegheny County by 2030 and is a collaborative effort made up of government agencies, healthcare institutions and community-based organizations. Yesterday PHC staff spent the day at the Forest Hills Fire Dept to work with our CIH teammates to provide HIV/HC testing during our twice monthly mobile vet clinic!

While your out haunting parties or enjoying the festivities, remember to keep safety in mind- and that includes safe s*x!

This Halloween, treat yourself and your partners to peace of mind:

1. Wrap it up before you get down! 🍬 Condoms are your best costume accessory for preventing STIs and unplanned pregnancies.

2. Know your treats! 🍎 Get tested regularly and encourage you’re partners to do the same. It’s a treat for you’re health!

3. Communicate clearly 🗣️ Just like you’d plan your spooky route, talk about consent, boundaries, and safe s*x practices before things get too wild.

4. No tricks, just trust! ❤️ Build trust and honesty in your relationships.

Twice per month, PHC staff partner with our Center for Inclusion Health teammates in the mobile health setting to provide HIV and HC testing during a mobile veterinary clinic! These days give us incredible opportunities to work with community partners and our CIH team.

October 15 is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) This day is an observance established in 2003 to address the disproportionate impact of HIV on Hispanic/Latinx communities.

The day promotes HIV testing, prevention, and treatment while working to reduce stigma and discrimination. It is also a community mobilization effort aimed at increasing access to care and support services for Latinx individuals living with or at risk for HIV

Did you know that PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is a highly effective way to prevent HIV? It involves taking a daily pill to reduce your risk of infection.

PrEP should be used in conjunction with condoms to provide maximum protection against HIV and other STIs. It is a powerful tool to fight against HIV, offering hope and prevention for those at high risk.

It is essential to discuss PrEP with your healthcare provider to determine if it is the right option for you!
