Every generation of doctors hears this lie.
Still married. Still a mom. Still an academic surgeon.

Is it easy? Absolutely not.
It takes intention, support, and a lot of work.

What makes it possible for us:
• A supportive husband and supportive kids
• Outsourcing what doesn’t require me
• Ruthless scheduling (everything has a home)
• A real village you can be honest with
• Precision where it matters. Flexibility everywhere else.

Drop a 💬 if you want the real, unfiltered tips that actually work.

Standing at a podium doesn’t happen by chance.

Academic medicine is a long road—early mornings, late nights, revisions no one sees, and sacrifices most people don’t realize they’re making. It’s discipline when motivation fades. It’s family support that steadies you when the load is heavy. It’s choosing the work again and again, even when the path feels uphill.

My passion lives at the intersection of research, population science, and community outreach—asking harder questions, studying the systems that shape health, and showing up for communities that are too often overlooked. This work matters. And it’s worth the grind.

If you’re in a season where the work feels invisible, keep going. Discipline builds rooms you haven’t entered yet.

If you’re building something bigger than yourself—drop a 🔥 or share this with someone who needs the reminder.

Follow for real talk about medicine, research, and the road it actually takes to get here.

Big podium. Big nerves.
Even bigger Scarface energy 😤🤌🏾

Backstory: Right before a national conference presentation, my husband called to remind me who I am…
in full mafia accent.

Because confidence hits different when it comes with creativity and unconditional support.
