As we approach the end of the year and pause services for the holiday season, we want to dedicate a post to saying thank you to the hundreds of incredible team members at The Children’s Institute. 💚

❄️ Our Winterfest celebration was a small way to show appreciation for the heart, energy, and dedication you bring to your work every day. You live our values of respect, quality, accountability, commitment, and collaboration in ways that truly matter—especially to the kids and families who rely on us.

As you take this well-deserved break, we hope you’ll reflect on all you’ve accomplished this year and feel proud of the lives you’ve helped shape and inspire. Your work makes a difference, and it shows.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back when we reopen on Friday, Jan. 2. Until then, enjoy the holidays, rest, and celebrate all that you’ve done. ✨

PRESENTS FROM POLICE 🚓🎅 For the 14th year, local police officers joined Santa and Mrs. Claus in delivering toys to 200+ students who attend The Day School.

Thousands of children have received gifts through this drive and we deeply appreciate the generosity of the first responders, volunteers, and community members who make the event possible year after year. Thank you Presents from Police!

Bikes, bed frames, doll houses, and diapers—thousands of gifts are now on their way to families across our community as part of our Hope for the Holidays gift drive! 💝

Since 2008, this effort has served more than 7,500 individuals across 5 counties. We are grateful to our supporters, volunteers, and team members whose collective efforts will ensure that local children and families feel the magic of the holiday season.

“Many of our parents will say it feels like falling off a cliff so we try to reduce supports as they get older so that it doesn't feel that way.”

Thanks to WESA for including us in this important discussion about the challenges that families face when their children with autism age out of school.

This story features our Associate Chief School Administrator Kristen Stackiewicz, and our Educational Supervisor Maggie McMahon.

Amid swelling political rhetoric that frames autism as a tragedy, some families are urging lawmakers to focus instead on improving supportive services for their kids. A family in Irwin says caricatures of people with autism capturing the headlines don’t show the full picture.
