🌟 Friday Fact: The Medicare Buy-In Program 🌟

Did you know… some people on Medicare don’t actually pay their Medicare premiums themselves? The state may pay them through the Medicare Buy-In Program.

That can mean:

🔹 Part B premiums may be paid for you
🔹 Sometimes Part A, deductibles, or coinsurance too
🔹 Coverage stays active while out-of-pocket costs go down

Why Benefits Counselors Love It:
✔ It can save clients hundreds of dollars per month
✔ Prevents coverage gaps and delayed care
✔ Keeps Medicare affordable during income changes

What Most People Don’t Know:
🔹 You don’t apply for Medicare Buy-In directly
🔹 Eligibility is usually triggered through Medical Assistance or Medicare Savings Programs
🔹 Many people qualify without realizing it

🎯 Big takeaway: Missed Buy-In = higher costs. Identified early = major savings.

At enTRUST Services, LLC, our Benefits Counselors help identify Buy-In eligibility, correct missed enrollments, and keep Medicare affordable. Reach out today to learn more!

🌟 Staff Spotlight: JaQualia Smith ~ Certified Benefits Counselor & Financial Specialist

JaQualia helps people understand how work and income impact federal benefits, focusing on Social Security programs like SSI, SSDI, and work incentives. By working with a Benefits Counselor like JaQualia, people can make informed, confident decisions about employment and financial stability.

JaQualia works primarily with people with disabilities, breaking down complex systems into clear, respectful, and manageable steps that support each individual's goals, removing uncertainty as a barrier to progress. What she finds most fulfilling is helping people replace fear and confusion with clarity and confidence.

JaQualia joined enTRUST in March 2025 after her sister, also a Benefits Counselor, encouraged her to apply. Though initially skeptical and nervous about the change, it became one of the best decisions she’s made—and she truly enjoys helping others maintain their benefits.

Outside of work, she is married, a proud parent of five children and one grandson, and enjoys family time, painting, fixing things around her home, skating, and reading.

🌟 Friday Fact: Pennsylvania’s One-Stop Benefits System 🌟

Did you know… Pennsylvania has one online system where you can apply for Medical Assistance, SNAP, cash assistance, LIHEAP, and more — all in one place? 🖥️

It’s called COMPASS, and it’s often the starting point for County Assistance and housing-related benefits.

PA COMPASS Website: www.compass.state.pa.us

Why Benefits Counselors Love It:
🔹 One application can screen for multiple programs
🔹 Upload documents instead of mailing or faxing
🔹 Track application status online
🔹 Faster follow-up when changes are reported correctly

What Most People Don’t Know:
✔ COMPASS is powerful — but knowing what to report, when to report it, and how it connects to other benefits makes all the difference
✔ Small reporting mistakes can cause big delays
✔ Guidance helps prevent avoidable denials

🎯 Big takeaway: The system is strong — strategy makes it successful.

At enTRUST Services, LLC, we help clients use COMPASS confidently and avoid common delays.
