Come work with me :)

Check it out:
Are you someone looking to step back into the workforce due to pandemic demands? Or finding work that allows more time for other demands of life?

Are you someone who experiences work satisfaction with completion of spreadsheets and tracking information in charts?

Do you have the patience to sit on hold with insurance companies to obtain information?

Are you a self-starter, organized, and able to prioritize demands?

Are you looking to work from the comfort of your home during hours that you choose?

This is a theme for me right now.

Most of my life I was taught to be aware of how others will respond and it is most important to avoid discomfort.
But what happens when I loose myself by avoiding discomfort?
What happens when I don't honor my truth and suppress my story?
Navigating perinatal loss forces you to deal with the discomfort. Others are uncomfortable simply by your story... and that is ok.
The goal: learn to trust and honor your truth. Learn to be ok with others discomfort. Learn to keep pushing forward.

For a family in economic hardship, therapy would appear to be a luxury. For families that have access to medical assistance plans with government assistance, medical assistance makes it difficult for providers to access the network - and thus leaving those providers with specialized care inaccessible to families in need. Help us ensure that ALL families have access to quality mental health services!

We are now accepting applications for our first cohort of our reproductive mental health provider training.

The trauma-informed training will provide a solid foundation for working with individuals during their reproductive years. Curricula will acknowledge and focus on loss and systems of oppression that amplify symptoms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

We have several, nationally-recognized facilitators including (Ngozi Walker-Tibbs) and and Birth's Jenna Brown.

If you are interested in joining us, please check out the application at the link in our bio. We are hopeful to have our first cohort put together by Aug. 20th.

Participants will also be eligible to support families receiving funding through the Forward Allies Reproductive Mental Health Fund.

And the does it again. Her words have this way of connecting to memories, feelings and, of course, my daughter. Thank you for constantly reminding me (collective us) that we are not alone.

I want there to be a word for that moment right before you find out that your baby no longer has a heartbeat.
A word for the way it gets really quiet all of a sudden.
A word to describe the way you keep searching the ultrasound tech's face as they try to avoid your gaze
I wish there was a word to explain the perceptible shift in the atmosphere.
A word to describe the way your head gets spinny and all you can hear is the hum of machinery and fluorescent lights.
I want there to be a word for the vulnerability you feel as you lay there just lying to yourself about what's to come.
A word for the way your heart goes from fluttery to thudding in your ears.
A word for that feeling of dizzy panic and heavy grief that hit you at the same time.
There should be a word for how the air feels all shaky as you breathe in and just wait.
A word for the feeling of watching someone's mouth start to say the words you really don't want to hear.
A word for that one last moment of hopefulness before the world comes crashing down.
Why isn't there a word?
Because maybe then people could better understand what it's like to find out your baby has died. If there was a word to describe that feeling, then maybe we wouldn't have to say so many words to break the silence around miscarriage and stillbirth.
Instead, we could just say the word and people would listen.

Hi All.

Initially Kathleen Kendall-Tackett was going to come to Pittsburgh this fall and I was working with Western PA Lactation Association to make this happen.

The event has been moved online, but is still going to be great! She is doing FOUR presentations:
*A New Paradigm for Depression in New Mothers
*The Impact of Violence Against Women in the Perinatal Period
*Nighttime Breastfeeding and Postpartum Depression/Anxiety
*Why Breastfeeding Prevents Maternal Metabolic Syndrome and Cardiovascular Disease

You register here: https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07eh6eceemc21053ec&oseq=&c=&ch= #

The cost is $100 before August 14th. CEs are being provided through the Nursing Association of America (which counts for LPC/LCSW CEs with our PA Board).

KKT was one of the first researchers that really outlines our need to focus on trauma during the perinatal period for prevention of preterm labor and talks about how trauma impacts the nursing relationship (which is the talk I gave to this org last Spring... citing KTT of course). She is also big on public research sharing to make it accessible to clinicians. I have not seen her talk live (only recordings) and am very excited about this - even if it is virtual.

I attached the flier. Please share.
