🌟 Today is National Plagiocephaly & Torticollis Awareness Day!

💡 What Is Plagiocephaly?
According to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Deformational Plagiocephaly refers to a head shape that is uneven, misshapen, or has a flat spot. It can result from pressure on the skull in the womb or from consistent positioning after birth.
✨ Important: Plagiocephaly and brachycephaly do not affect the brain, intelligence, or motor development.

💡 What Is Torticollis?
Torticollis occurs when a tight neck muscle causes a baby’s head to tilt or turn more to one side. This uneven positioning can contribute to plagiocephaly.
👶 Physical therapy is often recommended to improve range of motion, strengthen muscles, and help restore balanced neck movement.

💡 What Is a Cranial Remolding Helmet?
A cranial remolding helmet (orthosis) gently guides your baby’s head into a more symmetrical shape—commonly used for plagiocephaly, brachycephaly, and scaphocephaly.

🤩 Get to know Donny Kuhl - Licensed/Certified Prosthetist Orthotist at ., and what he enjoys most about working in POP.

"I take great pride in having worked in this field for 25 years. I started as a prosthetic technician and felt something was "missing" by not being able to see how the prosthesis I fabricated fit the patient and enhanced their mobility. After going back to school at Northwestern University to become a certified prosthetist/orthotist, I feel "complete" being able to see success stories from start to finish.

What Is POP? Organized by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC), March 2026 is a month-long celebration of the prosthetic, orthotic and pedorthic (POP) profession. It recognizes, motivates and inspires professionals across the country.
