The language of labor! Your doula will use the information at hand to suggest positions, explain the next steps, or give you some options to discuss with your team. Sometimes we switch support techniques or pause for a break when rest can be crucial- especially after a cervical exam which doesn’t match with the intensity of contractions. Note- These are just a few of the things your provider can find, they may also look for baby’s position, check for a cord/meconium staining, cervical lips or scar tissue and more!

I taught a 1:1 class, our signature curriculum last night. Every fifteen minutes or so one of the two parents would exclaim “i really wish our friend X got to take a class like this” “it’s so amazing hearing someone speak about something so passionately” “wow I can’t believe they don’t teach you this until you have a baby and you have to take a class!” It is truly the biggest compliment to have parents walk away feeling confident and prepared, and excited for their upcoming births. Let us fill your cup, enroll in one of our classes coming up- it comes with two seats (one for you and one for a support person!) let us help you rewrite how you are feeling about this birth.

This month six years ago Lisa onboarded to our team, with a passion to serve families and meet the Golden Standard of care. She was not able to serve folks the way she felt they deserved to be supported in her hospital based doula role, she knew her calling was bigger. To personalize the family support, to meet clients where they were and build relationships through care, for better outcomes. Since then she has come to serve hundreds of families, train other doulas, advanced herself with continuing education, attended births of family and friends, and Pittsburgh’s most amazing families alike.
