To the moms who are stretching themselves in every possible direction to make this season magical for their families, please please tune in to the themes at the heart of most seasonal celebrations and traditions.
⭐️Togetherness, with whomever is important to you. Perhaps it’s your baby’s first holiday season or maybe you are making room this year for in-laws, cousins across the country, friends, or colleagues. You likely won’t remember the gifts exchanged this year but the feeling of being included and connected may linger.
⭐️Comfort and Stillness. As my 4 year old reminded me, this week is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. Find your cozy spot, put on the outfit that makes your body feel good, and take some time for stillness. You may have to steal this time in between errands or after the kids go to bed, but your body and mind deserve it.
⭐️Nourishment is also seasonly appropriate, and not just because of the abundance of christmas cookies lying around. Focusing on giving your body the fuel it deserves will help you get through these gray, blustery days and busy schedules.
⭐️Gratitude may be a powerful shift in a season that can be filled with consumption, comparison, and loneliness. Look around at the people you DO have, the home that your children feel safe in, and what you ARE able to comfortably provide.
Let me know if any of these themes resonate with you!
