Those who were “Volun-Told” to come to this country — whether through joblessness or landlessness.
Or parents fleeing political exile.
For those who can’t choose between HOME and HERE.
Decolonizing Therapy is for the q***r and non-binary and pan and trans and demi youth (and every other Q***r person on the glorious kaleidoscope) that wants to come into themselves without apology.
It is a HOME. A space. A place. A vibe.
An energía of love and freedom to be.
And to help hold some of that intense trauma caused by fear and small-mindedness.
Decolonizing Therapy is for the homies on the Rez.
Antsy. Agitated. Roaming. Full.
Disconnected with that post-colonial rage.
I believe that people are traumatized because of a system that has been created with many arrangements that have been purposefully arranged.
This imperialist, neoliberalist, spiritually-bypassing cloud over us right now has let loose a poison — and we have been sick.
Lauryn & Dave & Bob & Eartha and so many more — KNEW.
So I won’t rest until therapy is fully:
Collective. That means group work is accountability work. It should be the fu***ng norm.
Until the children and elders are WELL and at the center of our work.
Until more “in-the-trenches” work is being done by QNBPOC folxs.
Until every kid can do a feeling check and let us know what they need — safely.
Until hetero-peeps are the minority.
Until intergenerational trauma is provided space and respect for the necessary healing.
Until we respect that therapeutic doesn’t equate to “knowing more.” I think it’s just an ability to HOLD more.
I’m Jennifer, and I am the creator and curator of Decolonizing Therapy, and I’m so glad you stopped here.
Oh — and the pic made me FEEEEELLLL summmmmmthangggg because that’s a metaphor of me when I get home from work, trying to shake off the energy that ain’t mine. Except with a mop of messy curly hair and my dope Goddess cat Isis at my heels.
