A helpful reminder for children and adults alike.
Before speaking, pause and think.
Is it true? Is it helpful? Is it inspiring? Is it necessary? Is it kind?

This simple check in supports respectful communication, emotional awareness, and stronger relationships at home and in the classroom. Save it. Practice it together. 🌿

Checking in with yourself helps you notice what you’re feeling throughout the day. Once you can name a feeling, you can decide what you need next. Sometimes that means staying with a good feeling. Other times it means finding a way to cope with a harder one like feeling worried, sad, or mad.

This chart includes feelings like happy, silly, worried, sad, and mad. Choose the feeling that fits best in the moment, then try the activity that goes with it or choose another strategy that helps. Checking in and responding to feelings supports regulation, self awareness, and emotional growth.

🌿 Mindful Message 🌿
Teachers and caregivers, try this playful winter movement activity together with young children to build body awareness and self regulation. Move alongside them and invite everyone to notice how their bodies feel. Is your heart beating faster? Is your breathing slower or quicker?

Make it even more engaging by adding music and moving together. These shared moments support regulation, connection, and joyful learning. ❄️

What makes relationships so impactful is that they hold both risk and repair. We shape each other constantly, intentionally or not. That’s why how we show up matters.

✨ December HealthyCHILD School Newsletter ✨
This month we’re focusing on Emotional Regulation & Calming—an essential skill that begins with co-regulation and grows as children learn to manage their own emotions.

Young children “borrow our calm” as we support them through big feelings. This newsletter includes:
✔️ Practical co- and self-regulation strategies
✔️ Classroom ideas to promote calming
✔️ A fun Dragon Breathing activity
✔️ Book recommendations to support social-emotional learning

When we connect over correct, acknowledge emotions, and start fresh, we help children build lifelong coping skills. 💛

📖 Read the December School Newsletter here and reach out to your HealthyCHILD DHC for support.

💙 It’s World Trauma Day!

At HealthyCHILD, we’re honoring the courage it takes to heal — and raising awareness about the lasting impact of trauma on children, families, and communities.

Trauma can shape how we think, feel, and connect — but healing happens when we come together with understanding, compassion, and hope. 💫

Here are 3 small ways you can make a big difference today:
🧠 Learn how trauma affects the brain — awareness opens the door to change.
🤝 Listen with empathy — every story deserves to be heard.
📣 Share facts and hope — help break the stigma around trauma and mental health.

Together, we can build a world where every child has the chance to heal, grow, and thrive. 💙

If you’d like to learn more or get involved, reach out to the HealthyCHILD team — we’d love to connect and share how you can help make a difference.
