📢 Last call 📢 for donations for the residential and hybrid class of 2026 "Pie-A-Professor" fundraiser on 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐭 𝟏𝟐:𝟏𝟓𝐩!

1️⃣ Make a donation (minimum of $3) to the class of 2026.

2️⃣ In the comments of the donation, write in the name of the professor that you would like to see get a plate of whipped cream to the face.
3️⃣ The residential and hybrid professor with the most money donated towards their name on November 17 will be pied by the student who raises the most money.

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Physical Therapy has established the 𝑬𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑬𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆-𝑩𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑭𝒖𝒏𝒅 to memorialize the professional life and legacy of former Assistant Professor Christine McDonough, who passed away in December 2024 after a short battle with cancer.

Christine’s passion for promoting evidence-based practice, her critical thinking and her practical and collaborative approach to teaching and research were valued by many in the physical therapy profession and beyond. This fund will provide a monetary award to third-year Doctor of Physical Therapy students at Pitt who demonstrate excellence in evidence-based practice.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 to convert the fund to a sustainable endowment in Christine’s name.

Thank you for your consideration in helping support Christine’s memory and the contributions she made to our students, physical therapists’ practice and the profession.

👏 Thank you 👏 to 𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐲, 𝐃𝐏𝐓, 𝐏𝐡𝐃, for an engaging and thought-provoking presentation in our DEI Seminar Series: “𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒆𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒉𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚: 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝑵𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒔 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝑨𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑨𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒔.”

𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐲, Director of the Center for Disability Justice and Associate Professor of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science and of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, shared his impactful work exploring how neighborhood and policy factors influence recovery and health outcomes for older adults.

We are grateful for 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐲'𝐬 time, expertise, and continued contributions to advancing health equity, rehabilitation science, and disability justice.

This prestigious fellowship recognizes Beth’s outstanding academic and scholarly accomplishments and provides dedicated support for her to complete her PhD dissertation by August 2026. 🎉 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 🎉 to Dr. Regan Harrell, who has been selected for the Excellence in Neurologic Education Award by the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy (ANPT). This award acknowledges and honors a member of the ANPT who is a gifted and creative educator. Regan will be recognized during the ANPT Annual Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting on Friday, February 13, 2026, in Anaheim, CA.
