If you are pregnant and unsure of what to do, or if you are thinking about making an adoption plan, The Children's Home of Pittsburgh can help.

Since 1893, The Children's Home of Pittsburgh and Lemieux Family Center's Adoption Program has placed over 7,000 infants and children with loving families in Southwestern Pennsylvania. In our infant program, we provide the full range of adoption services to birthparents, adoptive families and adoptees. As an affiliate of the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN), we help children prepare for and to achieve permanency, including helping adoptive parents adopt from foster care. Our entire Adoption Program is focused on providing a lifetime of support services to anyone whose lives are touched by adoption.

- Has placed more than 7,000 infants and children in permanent homes
- Places an average of 24 infants per year with adoptive families
- Provides free birthparent counseling to more than 170 clients per year by licensed social workers
- Has completed an average of 25 family studies for adoptive families yearly
- Offers interim transitional care services by licensed transitional care families
- Provides additional services such as: support groups, open adoption mediation, research and reunion services, post adoption counseling, and infertility counseling
- Provides services to children and families through the Statewide Adoption & Permanency Network (SWAN) including home studies for families looking to adopt a child from foster care

We look forward to holding our first Infertility Support Group of 2026 on March 30, at 6:30pm, via Zoom. There is no charge for attending and we welcome anybody experiencing infertility, at any stage of the process, to join our supportive community.

As we spend today reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. life and legacy, we’re reminded that justice is more than laws and policies, it’s well-being. Mental health and healing are central to Dr. King's dream, where everyone has the right to care, community, and peace of mind.

19.7% of Black and African American adults have experienced a mental health condition within the past year. The Black community continues to face inequality in their access to quality mental health treatment. Black and African American adults are less likely to receive mental health treatment then white or multiracial adults. (SAMHSA)

Black mental health matters. We all deserve peace, support, and care.

Today we honor Children’s Grief Awareness Day and stand with kids who are navigating loss. Professional support can help a child handle grief soon after a loss happens and ongoing.
