Here at the JAA, we are preparing for a joyous Passover with Rabbi Dovid Small, who has this message to share:

“Passover is the Holiday of freedom, as we remember and retell the story of the Exodus and freedom from bo***ge in Egypt, pondering how this story relates to our lives today… They experienced true freedom by understanding and experiencing what true darkness is about and how to bring about true light… It is through overcoming adversity that we truly appreciate freedom and blessings.

This Passover holiday, we have the opportunity to join in the Seder and experience what the Jewish people went through when they left Egypt. Each person has their personal story of how they will experience their own sense of freedom in their journey. May we inspire one another to grow and find meaning in our experience of freedom. As we join at the Seder, may we uplift each other to be a source of inspiration, growth, and blessing.

At the JAA, we look forward to celebrating Passover at our Seders and Holiday Services. Please join us at a Seder or a Davening Service and join us in this special time.

May you and your families be blessed with a Chag Samaech, a wonderful and meaningful Passover.”

We hope you have a wonderful Passover!

We ask for your support to help protect seniors from hunger.

When government funding for basic needs is delayed, reduced, or cut, as it is currently, the impact is immediate and deeply felt by the most vulnerable populations in our community, including our seniors.

Each year, Mollie’s Meals delivers more than 25,000 meals to over 100 homebound seniors in our community. Nationally, 1 in 4 older adults lives alone, and nearly 10 million seniors face food insecurity. But just as importantly, it is often the only human contact they will have.

JAA is grateful for the contributions and support we receive to help underwrite these additional costs that cannot be supported by our long-term, faithful partners at the County. Without philanthropic support for Mollie’s Meals, we would be forced to make decisions that no community should have to make—who eats, who waits, and who goes without

Importantly, if you or someone you know is currently unable to cover the costs of essential needs—such as food, utilities, healthcare, and service coordination—please reach out today to the AgeWell Pittsburgh referral line at (412) 422-0400. JAA is a partner of AgeWell Pittsburgh, which assists older adults and their caregivers in maintaining a healthy, independent life.
