Mission Statement:
At Emergency Medical Services Committee of Berkshire County, our mission is to support and uplift the EMS community by providing compassionate care, critical resources, and unwavering support to first responders and their families. Built on the principle of Caring for Our Own, we are dedicated to promoting the well-being, resilience, and professional development of those who dedicate their lives to saving others. Emergency Medical Services Corporation of Berkshire County (EMSCO) is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation committed to improving the delivery of emergency medical services to the residents of Berkshire County. As a direct extension of the Region 1 office, located in Northampton, Massachusetts, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, EMSCO coordinates communication and enhances the efficiency of providers of EMS including ambulance services, first responders, fire departments, law enforcement, and hospital emergency departments. Through its work, EMSCO evaluates, propagates and, in some case, sets standards of quality for local EMS, offering training, education and medical services research opportunities and developing appropriate protocols and policies for implementation. As a county-wide corporation, EMSCO seeks regular input and broad representation on its committee from the communities it serves. This includes, but is not limited to municipal governments, hospitals, ambulance services and other providers of emergency medical services within Berkshire County
