Digital Detox: Reset Your Relationship with Tech
Marshall Family Medicine physician Lacey E. Neufeld, DNP, FNP, associate foundation medical director, weighs in on on how tech is impacting our health:
She points to eye strain, neck and wrist pain, headaches, shifting sleep patterns, weight gain, and even increased risk of blood clots from too much sitting. Emotionally, she sees anxiety, depression, irritability, and social withdrawal, especially in kids.
“It can become unhealthy when we lose our body and brain’s own innate ability to be curious, explore, grow, and experience new things,” Dr. Neufeld says. “The primary one is noticing that we don’t know what to do with ourselves when we unplug.”
