El Dorado County Child Abuse Prevention Council

El Dorado County Child Abuse Prevention Council Increasing the awareness and respect for the rights of children to be free of abuse and neglect.

Your CAPC members, each appointed by the El Dorado Board of Supervisors, represent all areas of the County and take their appointments seriously. The Council met earlier this summer and spent a day laying out a strategic plan that will use our limited funds wisely, educate our communities on issues that effect children, families, their health and well being, as well as addressing issues which put our children at potential risk of abuse or neglect. Poverty, lack of education regarding safe child rearing and parenting practices, failure to report potential abuse or neglect, isolation from others, and the lack of resources and quality connections for new parents are each important areas that impact the health and safety of our children.

Parenting is full of joy, but it also comes with stress. From sleepless nights to unexpected challenges, every parent faces moments that test their strength.

That’s why Parental Resilience is the first Protective Factor we’re highlighting.

Resilience means being able to manage stress, recover from adversity, and continue to nurture your child with love and care, even when life gets tough.

💙 Resilient parents:
• Find ways to cope with stress
• Practice self-care
• Seek support when needed
• Heal from past trauma

When parents are resilient, children benefit through stronger bonds, emotional security, and healthy development.

What helps you stay strong when parenting gets hard?
