⭐5 Signs Your Child May Benefit from Speech Therapy⭐

As parents, it’s natural to wonder: “Is this something they’ll grow out of… or should I look into support?”
If you’ve had that thought, you’re not alone 💛
Here are 5 signs your child may benefit from speech therapy:
1️⃣ They have trouble expressing wants or needs
If your child gets frustrated because they can’t say what they want—even though they seem to understand—you may be seeing an expressive language delay.
2️⃣ Speech is hard for others to understand
If only close family can understand your child, or strangers frequently ask them to repeat themselves, speech clarity may need support.
3️⃣ They aren’t combining words by age 2–3
Most children begin putting words together (like “more juice” or “mommy go”) during toddlerhood. Difficulty doing this can be a sign to check in.
4️⃣ They struggle to follow directions
Trouble understanding simple directions may point to receptive language challenges—not behavior issues.
5️⃣ You have a gut feeling something isn’t quite right
Parents are often the first to notice. Trusting your instincts matters more than waiting to “see what happens.”

✨ Early support makes a difference—and speech therapy is play-based, supportive, and fun.

We love using snowflake finger plays at PFG Therapy because they:
👐 Strengthen little hands
💬 Support expressive language
✨ Boost imitation + engagement
All while adding a touch of winter wonder!

Try this one! ❄
“Five Little Snowflakes”
(Use fingers to match each line—wiggling, floating, landing, etc.)
Five little snowflakes softly float around,
(wiggle all five fingers high in the air)
One fell down without a sound.
(drop one finger gently)
Four little snowflakes dancing in the breeze,
(wiggle four fingers)
One landed lightly on the trees.
(tap fingertips together like branches)
Three little snowflakes swirling by,
(make swirling motions with three fingers)
One fell down from the winter sky.
(drop one finger)
Two little snowflakes drifting to the ground,
(float two fingers downward)
One joined friends without a sound.
(tap on palm)
One little snowflake floating all alone,
(wiggle one finger)
Fell to the earth and made winter known.
(open hands wide like snow on the ground)

How does OT support emotional regulation?

By giving kids the tools their nervous systems need to feel safe, organized, and in control. 💛✨

Occupational Therapy helps children:
🧠 Understand their body’s cues
💪 Use movement to calm or wake up
🛠 Build coping skills that actually work
💬 Communicate needs before meltdown mode
🏡 Carry strategies into home & school
Regulation isn’t about stopping big feelings—it’s about helping kids feel supported through them. 🤍 PFG Therapy can help!
