Central island Healthcare, for the first time since the CMS rating program was released, has achieved a five star rating, the highest rating that can be achieved.

The Federal rating program measures facilities based on the care they provide, their staffing levels, and their Department of Health survey results.

Cathie Doyle, Administrator of Central Island Healthcare attributes the five star rating to the staff that take amazing care of our residents every single day. “Teamwork and collaboration between every department and every employee is what allowed the facility to achieve this amazing accomplishment.

Owner of the facility, Michael Ostreicher, stated that “He truly could not more proud of this amazing team!”

So much spooky to share! 👻 We hope you all had a great Hallo-weekend, we sure did! Residents had a blast dressing up for our party and awards were handed out for Funniest, Scariest and Best costume🏆 We also learned The Monster Mash dance and played Halloween trivia while we enjoyed festive cupcakes and Drink-O-Lanterns!

Happy Halloween! 👻 We brought the cutest pumpkin patch to our residents 🎃 They got to pick their own and get creative with painting different designs and spooky faces on them. We had so much fun making them, and they're all displayed in the lobby alongside the staff pumpkins for their contest!

We kicked this Oktoberfest off with pretzels, beer and even did the chicken dance 🎶 We had so much fun learning about the different food, music, beer and fashion that comes with Oktoberfest for culture day!

Our resident council members handmade bracelets, pins and keychains for our breast cancer awareness fundraiser. 💗 Proceeds are donated to The National Breast Cancer Foundation. Staff and residents showed their support by wearing pink, and everyone's favourite Therapy Dog came by with his pink bandana!

Meet Liann Freedman our Dietitian Director, and Lissy Jacob our Part Time Dietitian! They complete a nutritional assessment upon admission and ensure that each resident's unique nutritional needs are being met throughout their stay with us. For residents and patients with nutritional disorders, as well as those with weight management issues, we offer a comprehensive nutritional management program.

Individualized plans are developed for both risk reduction and/or management of the medical conditions impacted by an individual’s nutritional status, including:
-Diabetes
-Cancer
-Cardiovascular disease
-Hypertensive disorders
-Lipid disorders
-Gastrointestinal dysfunction

When focused on the management of obesity, services include Nutritionist-designed meal planning including exercise, nutritional education, counseling and behavioral support needed to accomplish long-term weight management goals.

What a fun, furry fall day!!! joined us with the sweetest, fluffiest animals to hang out with us on the patio while we played music, enjoyed apple cider donuts and coffee, and listened to music. 🐐 There was a photo booth, games, and even family came to visit! ✨ It was a really special day and the residents and staff alike had so much fun!
