Nov. 10–16 marks Perioperative Nurses Week, and at RCH, we are blessed with some of the best!

This talented group of Andee Mitchell, Caitlin Wessel, Jessie Dougherty, Kristin Whiteid, and Sheila Koch provides care for our patients before, during, and after surgery. For most, a blister or cut on the foot is a small inconvenience that a Band-Aid™ and time will heal, but that’s not the case for the 38.4 million Americans who have diabetes. Medicare Open Enrollment is currently underway. Choosing the right Medicare coverage can be confusing, and the differences between Traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans aren’t always easy to spot.

Here’s a quick overview:

🔴 Traditional Medicare (Parts A & B) allows you to see any provider that accepts Medicare- usually without needing a referral.

🟡 Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies. They often include extra benefits but may limit which doctors and hospitals you can use.

Both options have advantages, depending on your healthcare needs. What’s most important is choosing a plan that lets you receive care where, and from whom, you prefer.

Before enrolling, take time to review your options carefully, ask questions, and confirm that your preferred providers are included in your coverage.
