End of the health care struggles have officially started. Please be kind to people when you get frustrated. Take a step back and think before you speak. Take a deep breath and realize we are not out here to get you! We are here to help you! We want everyone to see well and have great eye health! Things are expensive right now and it’s Christmas shopping time - we get it! We are also Moms and in the same boat. Do I really want to pay for new tires? Nope! But I’m not going to be mean to the guys selling me tires because I need them. It’s really upsetting to me when the patient upset is a friend of mine. You know of all people - I’m here for your best interests! Support small business and be kind. That’s so important to remember!

How do you know if you have Dry Eye? 👁️ Do your eyes get red, itchy, blurry… does your vision fluctuate? Do your eyes feel tired and you want to rub them? Do eyedrops make them better or worse? There are so many things to think about and you need a consult to really know. When I see you, I can tell you why you have Dry Eye and dive into how to treat it. Sometimes the answer is not eye drops or warm compresses.

Dry Eye discussions - I say these things every single day so I figured I just put it all out there! Dry Eye is complicated and there are so many factors… these are just some of the common things that tend to shock people 😬🤓 Why do I have Dry Eye - thyroid issue, hormones, gut health, lack of sleep, dehydration… those are the things I discovered when I started. I slept in my makeup in my 20’s and used bad products… when you add all this stuff up - it’s a recipe for Dry Eye! Now I’m smarter, made some changes and repairing the damage. Be better! 🤩 You eyes need you to focus and be comfortable so you can get through your busy day! 🤓🥳

Reassurance is the sometimes some of the best medicine. 🫶🏼 Patience is a virtue - don’t forget that! Dry Eye takes years to develop and months to treat. It’s kind of like when you gain weight when pregnant… you can’t expect to lose the weight the minute the baby is delivered! 🥸 Doctors take time reassuring your patients and help them understand the process. The studies prove it works and the results do come. Now that I have 3 years of results - I know what to expect and how to explain it. 🤓 Me: How was your Dry Eye 5 years ago? You were barely using eye drops… Ok! That’s my end goal. Let’s do this!!! Pump them up and make them feel good! I love being a cheerleader for my patients ❤️

Stay warm in this cold 🥶 weather! Get your eyes checked and make sure they are working the best they can. Today I had a patient who said I cured their headaches because they didn’t realize they needed glasses 🤓 last year. I had another patient that I have diagnosed with glaucoma in his mid 40’s. 😳 No family history and no symptoms but luckily we caught it early before it causes permanent vision loss! Come in and just let us check you 😊 - it is painless and can be so helpful to your future 🫶🏼 and Ollie is here 🐶

Clean your eyelids! 😳 Whether you wear makeup or not… you need to scrub those eyelids! Soap has surfactants and are not great for your eyelids and eyes so I recommend Optase Life sensitive eye makeup remover. Made with Hyaluronic acid, B5 and Manuka honey and only 7 safe ingredients 🥰 . The other option is Refreshing eye towelettes which I love for on the go and travel - soft and doesn’t irritate my eyes! Infused with Hyaluronic acid, Calendula and Aloe - 10 safe ingredients 🥳 and in both products one of the ingredients is just water lol 😆. When I don’t wear makeup I use Tea tree water cleansing foam in the shower. Dust allergens and Demodex mites are washed away easily! Take care of your eyes 👀 or I will lecture you - only because I care 🩷

Ready for a busy Friday! 🙌🏼 Ollie is ready for the work day. We have Dry Eye Friday going on with 6 Lumenis Optilight sessions mixed with a full day of Routine eye exams. We have time for a few last minute appointments but we will be on roller skates 🛼 today! Hope everyone has a great weekend ☺️🐶❤️

Prokera! Another tool in my tool belt to help fix corneas. This amniotic membrane can be billed to your medical insurance and is a great treatment for wound healing - corneal ulcers - dry eye - recurrent corneal erosion… basically unhappy corneas. You would wear it on your cornea for a few days… warning it’s blurry to look through and not super comfy but the results are great! You would do one eye at a time if you need both eyes treated.

Some days are so crazy that you can’t think 🤔 Some days are overwhelming and you can’t deal 😣 Just take a deep breathe and relax those eye muscles. Have you ever noticed how tense your eye muscles get when you are stressed or working? Just take time to remember to relax them because I see more and more patients with accommodative (focusing) issues needing reading glasses earlier 🤓 This causes headaches and blurry night vision too. So sometimes when you think it’s your prescription… it’s really just too much focusing. Relax those eye muscles - remember 20/20/20 - every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds…. Or just book a flight somewhere and take a vacay 😜🤩🥳 Sometimes life passes you by and you need to get away. Enjoy life - it flies by ☺️
