Turkeys: More Than Just a Thanksgiving Icon! 🦃
At Merrimack Valley DOT Exams, we enjoy a fun fact just as much as a scheduled test—so in the spirit of the season, here are some officially verified turkey-facts to share at your next break room or family dinner table:

1. Did you know that wild turkeys can sprint up to 18 mph and fly in bursts up to 50 mph?

2. Turkeys have excellent eyesight — they can see in color and hold a field of vision of about 270 degrees (that’s nearly all around them!).

3. The familiar “wild turkey” of North America is one of only two species of turkey globally—the other is the Ocellated Turkey of Central America.

4. Though you may associate them with your plate, wild turkeys evolved over 20 million years ago in North America and share ancestry with grouse and pheasants.

5. In the wild, a turkey’s wings typically have 8-10 primary feathers and 14-16 secondary feathers on each side. Pretty feather-fancy!
