Existing clients before 10/1 have to have an in person session yearly. New clients have to have an in person session before doing any telehealth sessions.

Update:
Behavioral Health will be allowed for Telehealth. Patient must be seen in office once every 6 months.

Starting today: Patients covered by Medicare will no longer have telehealth (phone or Zoom) appointments covered. The policy change was to be reviewed but now with the shutdown it will not be reviewed.

Keep in mind that the patient's coinsurance will also increase due to the increase in payments from Blue Cross of Mass. due to the fact that coinsurance is based on a percentage.

The Tufts Commercial plans in Mass are now a closed panel. No new credentialing. Only the Public and Senior plans are open.

"UnitedHealthcare said in its second quarter earnings call that it plans to drop Medicare Advantage plans that currently serve over 600,000 users, becoming the latest health insurer to announce a scaling back of this magnitude."

Have all Advantage Plan patients call their insurance for their next steps if they are under the United Healthcare umbrella. They should have already received letters.

Congress extended COVID-era telehealth “waivers” applicable to Medicare until September 30, 2025. These were originally scheduled to end March 31, 2025. The hope is that they will extend this date again, but be sure to be aware of the September deadline.
