Wendy Barse
Wendy Barse currently of Corsica South Dakots served in the Army National Guard and Air National Guard from February 11th 1988 to May 5th 2011. She joined the Army National Guard because her brother was in the Guard, she wanted it to pay for her collage, and she was all around interested in serving her country. She was stationed in the 137 ENGBN in Wagner South Dakota, along with the SF SD Air Base. Wendy's roles in the National Guard where very extensive including being a unit supply specialist, training to be a combat medic to later transfer to the Air National Guard where she was a logistics inspector, retail outlet, and eventually a medical materials NCIOC. For Wendy the hardest part of being in the National Guard was having to be away from her children. Her most memerable experice was when she got to go to Singapore for 30 days. To her this experience was so memorable becuase she was on an island of 3 million people that was only 14 miles by 25 miles large. She told us that they where very clean and that no litering or chewing gum was aloud on the island. Another memorable experience for her would be when she was able to deploy people down to help build the Mexican Wall. Wendy told us that she already felt very mature going into the Army National Guard because she grew up on a farm were she learned to work with anyone and to be very open minded. Wendy told us the she would do it all again in a heartbeat and loved being apart of it. She also told us that she would encourage young individuals to try it out as you meet lots of cool people from around the world and you become apart of history. She believes everyone should experience it and it is a great way to see the world and get payed to do it. We had a great time visiting with you Wendy. Thank you for your service
