Why was Rudolph’s nose really red?
Because winter allergies are no joke. 👃✨

That famous glow isn’t magic, it’s inflammation. Cold air, indoor allergens, and seasonal triggers can leave noses red, irritated, and congested this time of year.

If winter allergies or sinus symptoms are making your season less merry, our Southwest Allergy & Asthma Center team is here to help you breathe easier and feel better all winter long.

Shivering and sneezing? As cold fronts roll into North Texas, many people start feeling the first signs of Cedar Fever — one of the toughest allergy seasons of the year.

So, what is Cedar Fever?
Cedar Fever is a strong allergic reaction to the pollen released by mountain cedar trees (Ashe juniper). While these trees grow mainly in Central Texas, winter winds carry their pollen north, causing widespread symptoms across the DFW area. Common reactions include:
• nonstop sneezing
• itchy, watery eyes
• sinus pressure and congestion
• headaches and fatigue
• mild fever-like symptoms

It feels a lot like getting a winter cold — but it’s actually allergies.

At Southwest Allergy & Asthma Center, our North Texas specialists are here to help you prepare for Cedar Fever with testing, personalized allergy care, and asthma support to keep you breathing comfortably all season.

Don’t let Cedar Fever take over your winter.

"We are incredibly grateful to Dr. William Neaville and his entire team at Southwest Allergy & Asthma (Murphy) for their exceptional care and expertise in treating our daughter’s peanut allergy. The peanut desensitization process is not an easy journey but has been successful for us because they carefully walked us through the process. They took the time to answer all of our questions, explain each step in detail, and made sure we felt supported every step of the way. The staff has been consistently kind, professional, and attentive, creating a safe and welcoming environment for our daughter. Thanks to their personalized approach and dedication, our daughter has made tremendous progress, and we feel more confident and optimistic about her future. We highly recommend Southwest Allergy & Asthma to any family navigating food allergies—especially those considering oral desensitization. This team has truly made a meaningful difference in our lives." - Chelsea

Our Murphy team continues to provide exceptional care with a personal touch, helping patients safely navigate food allergies. We’re grateful for the trust you place in us! 💙

Today, we hope the only thing making your eyes water is how beautiful your plate looks,
not the cat you forgot your sister owns.

Stay safe, stay cozy, and enjoy every bite.

Happy Thanksgiving! We look forward to seeing you soon… but hopefully not too soon.
Maybe skip that pecan pie!

Allergy Safe Thanksgiving Tips - Thanksgiving should be full of joy, not reactions. Here are a few ways to keep your holiday safe, stress free, and delicious:

🦃 Check ingredients twice. Many holiday dishes include hidden allergens like nuts, dairy, wheat, or eggs. When you are unsure, always ask.

🦃 Be mindful of cross contamination. Shared serving spoons and kitchen surfaces can transfer allergens easily. Keep allergy free dishes separate.

🦃 Bring a safe dish. If you or your child has allergies, bringing something you know is safe offers peace of mind and guaranteed leftovers.

🦃 Watch for unexpected triggers. Seasonal scents, wood burning fireplaces, and dusty decorations can flare up asthma or sinus symptoms.

🦃Keep medications close. Have antihistamines, inhalers, or epinephrine (if prescribed) available, especially when celebrating away from home.

🦃 Have an action plan. Make sure everyone in your household knows what to do in case of a reaction.

From all of us, we wish you a warm, safe, and happy Thanksgiving surrounded by the people you love.
