Struggling with shoulder pain that just won’t go away? Whether you’re an athlete, active adult, or recovering from an injury, labral tears are one of the most common — and most overlooked — causes of shoulder discomfort. In this video, Dr. Michael Howard of Plano Orthopedic and Sports Medicine explains what labral injuries are, how they happen, and the treatments that help patients get back to pain-free movement.

What You’ll Learn in This Video
Dr. Howard breaks down:
What a labral tear is and why it commonly affects athletes and active adults
Common symptoms, including catching, popping, instability, and deep shoulder pain
How labral injuries are diagnosed, including physical exams and imaging such as MRI
Non-surgical treatment options, including physical therapy and strengthening programs
When surgery is recommended and what modern arthroscopic techniques can repair
Recovery expectations, from conservative care to post-surgical rehab timelines
His clear, patient-focused explanation helps you understand your shoulder symptoms and what steps to take next.

 Why This Matters
Labral injuries can come from sports, repetitive use, or even simple everyday motion. Many people live with shoulder pain far longer than they should — but early evaluation can lead to faster recovery and prevent long-term damage.

If you’re dealing with unexplained shoulder pain, a sports-related shoulder injury, or post-trauma shoulder instability, this video will help you understand what might be going on and how to get the right care.

 Ready to Feel Better?
If these symptoms sound familiar, don’t wait. Plano Orthopedic and Sports Medicine offers comprehensive evaluation and personalized treatment plans for shoulder injuries.

Call us today or visit our website to schedule your appointment with Dr. Michael Howard.
Let’s get you back to the activities you love — stronger and pain-free.

Our Story

Plano Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center has a culmination of more than 40 years of memories and experiences providing thousands upon thousands of surgeries and conservative care treatments that have helped patients get on the road to recovery. Our tagline is “the right way forward” it is who we are at the core in everything we do.

Since day one, our people and patients have always come first. Regardless of pressures and constraints we’ve all felt from the ever-changing and uncertain healthcare industry, we’ve held true to people over profit, ensuring personal, thorough care is provided with the patients’ long-term health in mind.

We don’t have generalists, we have 12 board-certified, fellowship-trained specialists which is not something you’ll find in many other orthopedic practices. We provide same-to-next-day appointments because we have multiple board-certified doctors for each specialty area.

Plano Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center is committed to always evolving with the latest medical treatments and advancements, but will never lose sight of the thoughtful approach, time and compassionate, quality care we provide our patients in helping them heal. “The right way forward” is what makes us different from the many other orthopedic facilities in North Texas. We listen and understand what is most important to the families and athletes in our community and have always modeled how we operate around what matters most to them. Learn more about what sets us apart and contact Plano Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center today!
