👉 Why some people notice new knee, hip, or back pain
👉 Simple, joint-friendly ways to build strength and protect your bones as you lose weight
You’re working hard to take care of your health — your joints and bones deserve a plan too. 💙

ORTHO FAQ: “Will I set off airport security with my joint replacement?”
If you’ve ever packed your bags after a knee or hip replacement and thought, “Great… am I going to beep like crazy at TSA?” — you’re not alone.
The honest answer? You might… and that’s completely normal.
Your hip, knee, or shoulder implant can sometimes trigger airport scanners, but security teams see this every single day. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong with your joint or your surgery.
Here are a few ways to make travel day less stressful:

• 🕒 Give yourself a little extra time at the airport
• 💬 Tell the TSA agent you have a joint replacement before you walk through
• 🙋‍♂️ Expect a quick pat-down or wand screening — it’s routine, not a red flag

At Plano Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center, we don’t just want you walking without pain — we want you back to trips, grandkids’ visits, cruises, and adventures without worrying about the metal in your joint.

Have another question about life after joint replacement? Drop it in the comments and we may feature it in a future Ortho FAQ.

Ever heard horror stories about shoulder surgery being huge, bloody, and super painful? 😬
That’s the old way.
In this reel, Dr. Troop shows how modern sports medicine has changed the game:
Tiny arthroscopic incisions
Nerve blocks that give 2–3 days of pain relief
Many patients needing little to no narcotics
Result? Smaller scars, less pain, faster recovery. 💙

Imagine slipping and falling at a truck stop in another state… then having to drive your 18-wheeler all the way back to Texas in pain?

That’s what happened to one of our patients, who came to see Dr. Le after a serious wrist fracture:
“I had to hurry up and find a doctor who could get me in as quick as possible, and he and his staff were so quick and super nice to get me in. I then had to have surgery and have a plate and screws put in my wrist and he did a wonderful job. I’ve healed up really quickly… He did a super job and I absolutely highly 110% recommend him.”

From fast scheduling to a successful surgery and smooth recovery, Dr. Le and his team were there every step of the way. This is what we strive for at Plano Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center in Plano, TX—care that not only treats the injury, but supports the person living with it. 💙

Knee pain is one of the most common reasons people delay seeing a doctor. Many assume it’s just soreness, aging, or something that will go away on its own. While that’s sometimes true, knee pain can also be a sign of an underlying condition that benefits from early evaluation and treatment.

Our Story

Plano Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center has a culmination of more than 40 years of memories and experiences providing thousands upon thousands of surgeries and conservative care treatments that have helped patients get on the road to recovery. Our tagline is “the right way forward” it is who we are at the core in everything we do.

Since day one, our people and patients have always come first. Regardless of pressures and constraints we’ve all felt from the ever-changing and uncertain healthcare industry, we’ve held true to people over profit, ensuring personal, thorough care is provided with the patients’ long-term health in mind.

We don’t have generalists, we have 12 board-certified, fellowship-trained specialists which is not something you’ll find in many other orthopedic practices. We provide same-to-next-day appointments because we have multiple board-certified doctors for each specialty area.

Plano Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center is committed to always evolving with the latest medical treatments and advancements, but will never lose sight of the thoughtful approach, time and compassionate, quality care we provide our patients in helping them heal. “The right way forward” is what makes us different from the many other orthopedic facilities in North Texas. We listen and understand what is most important to the families and athletes in our community and have always modeled how we operate around what matters most to them. Learn more about what sets us apart and contact Plano Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center today!
