Exciting news!

After years of counseling in a group practice setting, I’m making a BIG leap and opening my own private practice!

Restore and Revive Counseling will officially be open for business starting June 1st, 2024, in Plano.

It’s hard to put into words the different emotions I feel about this. It’s the epitome of how seemingly opposite emotions can exist at the same time. I’m excited, anxious, confident, scared. But one thing is constant- God’s faithfulness and willingness to show up in the big and small things.

I’m honored to continue serving my current clients and looking forward to serving future clients in this new setting. If you are interested in starting your counseling journey, contact me for more information.

Are you dreading the upcoming Holiday season? Did you know this is actually very common?
Lots of people feel overwhelmed about the Holidays for a multitude of reasons- general stress, anxiety about family dynamics, grief over the loss of a loved one, frustration about expectations not being met.
The big issue is that we often don’t talk about these things. Instead, the Holidays can be one big highlight reel on social media, where we only show the “good moments” to the outside world. And sometimes, those “good moments” aren’t even all that good.
If you’re struggling with how to handle the Holidays, let’s talk. You don’t have to do this alone. Call 972-212-9175 to schedule an appointment.

“I don’t want to go to counseling. Going to counseling makes me look weak.” Have you ever heard someone say this? Maybe you’ve said it yourself.

Believe it or not, I hear this ALL THE TIME as a counselor. People come into my office explaining that they’ve needed help for years, but didn’t take the next step out of fear of how they would be perceived.

If that sounds familiar, let me help dispel this myth- going to counseling isn’t for the weak. It’s for the STRONG. Some of the strongest people I know are people I’ve met through counseling. The process of counseling is hard. You face memories, emotions and thoughts that maybe you’ve fought for years to ignore. It’s a tough journey, but it is SO worth it.

Don’t let fear of how you might be perceived hold you back any longer. Reach out for help. Start the journey to healing today.

Brené Brown once said that one of the most shocking things she’s discovered is “the idea that the most compassionate people I have interviewed were also the most boundaried.”

Wait, what? Compassionate yet boundaried at the same time? How could that be?

We’ve been taught that in order to be generous, kind and compassionate, we must be willing to constantly put our needs on the back burner. While this is necessary at times, it shouldn’t be a constant (and let’s be honest, a lot of times, it is a constant).

Setting boundaries is hard. We don’t want to hurt people or disappoint them. We want to be helpful and live up to others expectations. Sometimes, setting boundaries can feel like we are letting others down. But if we don’t set healthy boundaries for ourselves, it’s easy to become resentful and frustrated. If you feel burnt out and fatigued due to a lack of healthy boundaries in your life, here are some ideas you can start trying to practice in your day-to-day:
•saying no to things you feel obligated to do
•removing yourself from a situation where you feel you’re being taken advantage of
•talk with your spouse about how to carve out at least 30 minutes a day for self-care
•take responsibility for your emotions only, and let others be responsible for their own emotions

Having healthy boundaries sets a strong and sustainable foundation in order to be more compassionate and caring. If you would like to talk more about how to set boundaries in your life, call 972-212-9175 and set up an appointment today.
