Here are some important tips to keep in mind as you begin cleaning up your home after Harvey:

-Take photos of the damage to your home and belongings as you begin cleanup.

-Make a list of damaged or lost items, and gather any original receipts you have for those items.

-Save receipts for all repairs, cleanup, and disaster-related costs.

Cleaning up and making temporary repairs to your home won't disqualify you from federal disaster assistance. In case you hear rumors regarding cleanup, there's more info here: https://www.fema.gov/hurricane-harvey-rumor-control

Robert Safety Bob Layman says:

N95 RESPIRATOR USAGE

N95 respirators are the most common and basic form of disposable respirators. N95 respirators are designed to filter out particulate matter only and are meant to be discarded after a single use. N95 respirators are commonly used by health care workers, remediation, and skilled trade workers. These normally filter out dusts, mists, and certain fumes but not VAPORS! The N series filter is used in environments free of oil mists.

N95 respirators are designed to filter particles 0.1-0.3 micron diameter in size with a filter efficiency of at least 95 percent.

N95 respirators must be donned and fitted to the face properly to provide maximum protection.

Users must perform a seal check prior to entering the work area. See the manufacturer’s instructions on proper donning and seal check procedures.

The N95 respirator must be replaced if the filter becomes soiled, damaged, or difficult to breathe through.

After removing the N95 respirator from the face the respirator must be discarded.

N95 respirators do not typically provide chemical

protection.

Facial hair between the sealing surface of the respirator and the face will decrease the respirators effectiveness and is not recommended by OSHA.

N95 respirators cannot be used for protection against asbestos, lead, and silica hazards.

N95 respirators should not be used when contaminant concentrations exceed 10 times the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL).

N95 respirators may be used voluntarily in cases where exposures do not exceed the PEL and the employer does not require the use of N95 respirators.

Employees who do choose to wear N95 respirators voluntarily must be provided with a copy of Appendix D of OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.134
