In October 2025, Torre Jesús Sánchez Erazo in Bayamón, Puerto Rico proudly hosted a Nursing Internship Program led by a professor and nursing students from Caribbean University College, in collaboration with the property’s Service Coordinator (SC).

During the visit, uniformed nursing students provided a health talk focused on preventing insect and wild animal infestations and raising awareness about the health risks associated with these conditions. The session emphasized practical prevention strategies and community health safety, creating an engaging and educational experience for residents.

The event highlighted strong teamwork, respect, and community action, with students offering free health services and educational support while fulfilling their academic requirements. The Torre Jesús Sánchez Erazo Residents’ Association actively participated, reinforcing collaboration and resident engagement.

As a result, residents gained valuable health knowledge, strengthened connections with the nursing program, and enjoyed a raffle where one resident won a gift basket. Programs like this continue to build lasting relationships and promote healthier senior communities.

Is it time to rethink driving safety as we age? SeniorPlanet.org's latest article explores how continuing to drive isn’t just about age — it’s about whether physical or mental changes are impacting safety on the road. Driving means independence, but there comes a time when honest assessment matters for your well-being and the safety of others.

The article highlights that:
✦ Age alone doesn’t determine safe driving — health changes like vision loss, slower reaction times, memory lapses, or other conditions can affect driving ability.

✦ Starting conversations early with loved ones and planning alternative transportation ahead of time makes the transition smoother rather than crisis-driven.

✦ Paying attention to warning signs — close calls, trouble seeing signs, frequent dents or getting lost — can help you decide when it’s time to self-regulate or stop driving.

✦ Professional assessments and support — including transportation alternatives like public transit or ride-shares — can help older adults maintain mobility safely.

The article encourages honest, early planning and open conversations so independence doesn’t turn into risk.

The holidays invite us to slow down and reflect on what it means to care for one another.

For many seniors, this season brings quiet challenges—fixed incomes, rising costs, and the ongoing need for safe, stable housing. Yet it’s also a time when hope feels closer, sparked by small acts of generosity and shared humanity.

At EHDOC, that hope takes shape through affordable homes and supportive services that help seniors remain independent and secure. It’s strengthened by people who believe that aging with dignity should never be out of reach.

If you’re feeling moved this season, there’s an opportunity to be part of something meaningful. Your support—given freely and thoughtfully—helps create stability, comfort, and peace of mind for older adults.
