A message from Dr. Charles:

Dear patients,

When my family and I came to Plattsburgh Air Force Base in 1972, it would have been hard to fathom that the day would come where I would be composing a message about my retirement ….Yet here we are.

As many of you are aware, I had a heart procedure performed in 2017 and another last month. Part of the prescription moving forward includes a slower pace and more relaxation which, in turn, requires me to step away from patient care. Please know that your trust in me and our practice has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my professional life.

At the same time, it is that trust that should carry on with FirstView Eye Care as Dr. Caitrin Herdic and team will continue to deliver the care with attention that you have come to expect from our practice. Those of you who have had the opportunity to meet Caitrin know that she is infinitely smarter than me and has a magic gift in making each patient feel as though he or she is her only patient.

I appreciate that this change could create temporary scheduling challenges and I ask for your patience and understanding over the near term. We are actively seeking not only a new doctor but one who embodies all that you have come to expect from our practice. In short, we want to make sure the doctor is the right fit for you because we want FirstView Eye Care Associates to continue on as long as you will have us as your eye care team.

I will certainly be around the office from time to time so I hope we run into one another. And please do not hesitate to say “Hi” if we cross paths out and about.

Thank you all so very much for everything we have been able to do together over the years…it truly has been my honor and pleasure.

Good news! We will be re-opening this week for routine care. :)

We will, of course, be following New York State and American Optometric Association Safety Plan Guidelines. We will follow strict disinfection procedures and are limiting the number of people in our office. We ask everyone visiting our office to wear a mask and consent to a temperature check.

Due to the CDC Guidelines, our office is closed. We will open our office once the CDC and NY COVID-19 Guidelines allow us to do so.

Did you know that contact lenses, contact lens blister packs, and top foil are all recyclable, but they often end up in landfills anyway because of their small size? 😢

At FirstView Eye Care, we can accept all of the above, and through a program with TerraCycle ensure that your contact lens waste is recycled appropriately. 😄
