This past weekend, Kierna (clinical instructor), along with Emma and Bryn (second-year students) and Madox (first-year student), participated in the Shamrock Shuffle 5k☘️sponsored by the CVPH Foundation. Congratulations on 25 Years Jessica Hanson!

We’re proud to celebrate an incredible 25-year journey at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital.
From starting as a student in the School of Radiologic Technology in 2000 to roles as a clerk, diagnostic technologist, clinical instructor, and now Clinical School Coordinator, Jess’s career reflects dedication, growth, and a deep commitment to our patients, students, and community.

She also keeps us well stocked in all things food and beverage and always brings the fun! Thank you, Jess, for 25 years of service, mentorship, and positive energy. Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital is better because of you!

Roentgen Review Fall Session Highlights

The Roentgen Review series was created by Program Director Marla Garcia to support our students’ success on the Patient Care section of the ARRT Certification Examination. Each week, second-year students complete a five-question quiz followed by class discussion on correct answers and test-taking strategies. The fall session runs 12 weeks, with a 20-week spring session to follow.

Congratulations to our Fall Roentgen Review Champion, Jillian Magoon. She topped the leaderboard for most of the session and earned first place in this 12-week challenge. She chose a Dunkin’ gift card as her prize.

Shout-out to Class 60. This cohort scored an impressive 10 points higher in their class average compared to any prior group. Great work, Class 60. We’re excited to see the competition continue this spring.

Today we are proud to celebrate Marla Garcia, MS, RT(R)(M), our amazing Program Director for the CVPH School of Radiologic Technology!

Marla began her career as an X-ray Technologist and Mammography Technologist, caring for patients with skill and compassion. Her passion for learning never stopped — she completed her Master’s degree this year, while also stepping into the Director role in 2024.

One of her greatest strengths is her dedication to education. Marla’s love for anatomy shines in every lesson she teaches, inspiring students to truly understand the science behind exceptional patient care.

We are incredibly grateful for her leadership, her commitment to the future of radiology, and the way she supports and guides every student who walks through our doors.

🌟 Celebrating Nicole Kurz – Our Physics Rockstar! 🌟

This Radiologic Technologist Week, we honor Nicole Kurz, our dedicated adjunct physics instructor! She teaches 60 hours of imaging physics to first-year students and returns in the second year to help them prepare to take the ARRT Certification Exam.

When she is not busy within her MRI technologist role, Nicole inspires, challenges, and holds students accountable bringing real-world expertise and a love of physics to every class. A true rockstar in our program!

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible work of radiologic technologists everywhere — and especially our own amazing team. We want to recognize our Clinical Coordinator, Jessica Hanson and our Clinical Instructor, Kierna Evoy for the countless ways they support our students, our program, and the radiologic science profession every single day.
Their dedication goes far beyond teaching clinical skills — they model professionalism, compassion, and excellence in patient care. Whether they’re mentoring a nervous student, coordinating clinical schedules, or helping our graduates prepare for their careers, they pour their hearts into everything they do.
We’re so grateful for their commitment and the positive impact they make on our students and the healthcare community. Thank you both for all that you do to uphold the high standards of our profession and to inspire the next generation of radiographers. 💙
