I am first and foremost an aromatherapist. My practice is firmly rooted in research and science, but I also believe that hands on experience play a large role in an aromatherapists toolbox. I have been working with essential oils for over a decade, and have completed over 500 hours of formal training. Natural living and holistic wellness have been a part of my life for a very long time. Shortly after deciding to go back to school for complementary medicine, as a new mom with two very young boys I found myself absolutely exhausted. My to-do list was always growing by the minute and although I always got a lot done, I felt I never did anything particularly well. Burning the candle at both ends caught up with me in a big way when I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue, and later with adrenal exhaustion. Through this shocking diagnosis, I discovered not only that I needed to take better care of myself, I needed to let go of what was no longer working in my life; attitudes and behaviors, self-talk, and I even walked away from a few key relationships in my life. I needed to grow in ways I never thought I could. I had to challenge my old ways of thinking. I am now a single mom and am thriving more than I have in years. I will challenge your thought processes to help you to love and take care of yourself first each and every day so that you have enough to not only care for your children the best that you can but to fully embrace life! I specialize in aromatherapy for kids so rest assured, I am very educated and anything that I share with you is based on research, science, and a whole lot of love. Aromatherapy can be of great benefit to your whole family! So what is my educational background? I earned my associate's degree in Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the American College of Healthcare Sciences in Portland, Oregon. In addition to my aromatherapy training, I am a Holistic Health Practitioner and Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant with an additional 1,000 hours of training. This is troublesome! I know so many use it, or have used it in the past. For the record, this is not the only concern with melatonin use.

Magnesium is a much safer and effective alternative. It can also be used in tandem with specific herbs and lifestyle practices in the hour or two that leads up to bedtime.

Experts say new research findings suggesting that long-term use of melatonin could be associated with increased risk of heart failure need further investigation.

Did you know that a short nap + lavender scent can help ease your stress response?

A pilot study found that inhaling Lavandula angustifolia (lavender essential oil) during a ~90-minute nap significantly reduced markers of sympathetic nervous system activity (α-amylase and chromogranin A) compared to no lavender. DOI

SIGNIFICANTLY!!!

🧠 Why it matters:

The sympathetic nervous system governs “fight-or-flight” responses, so dampening it can help you feel more relaxed. DOI

Though subjective mood didn’t change in this study, the objective biomarkers did — showing physiological benefit. DOI

The nap was short (≈90 min) and inhalation of the oil began after slow-wave sleep was detected—so the study conditions were controlled. DOI

🔍 How you might try it for yourself

Choose a high quality lavender essential oil (preferably from Lavandula angustifolia).

Use a diffuser placed near your bed or nap-space, at a gentle concentration (this study used 30 µL in 500 mL water). DOI

Nap somewhere restful for ~90 minutes.

Notice how you feel afterward — more relaxed, clearer mind, less tension?

💡 Bottom line: Introducing lavender scent during a short nap could be a simple lifestyle “hack” (well, aromatherapy hack) to reduce stress physiology — especially helpful in our busy, overstimulated lives.

🌿 Boundaries that protect your energy
🌿 Stillness that lets your nervous system breathe
🌿 Joy that doesn’t need to be earned

Let this be the season you choose peace over pressure, presence over perfection.
Your calm matters. Your boundaries matter. You matter. 💛
