ConXtech

ConXtech The Structural Steel Building System that is simply faster. ConXtech Inc. is a construction technology company based in California.

The company has developed ConX®, a revolutionary structural steel building system which enables rapid delivery of robust, cost efficient and sustainable structures. The system is often referred to as a "full scale erector set™". The company sells a standard set of manufactured "lower and locking™" connectors and building components enabling the mass-customization of a precise structural building frame or "chassis" to which other factory manufactured building modules can be added. When assembled into multi-bay, multi-story structures, the patented connection technology is ideal for industrial, commercial, healthcare, military, high-density residential, data center, educational and other structures. The ConX System reduces time and overall project costs when compared to conventional structures and brings a systemic change to the building process, enabling owners and developers to predictably build Simply Faster. ConX SMF connections meet special detailing requirements for the most demanding seismic loading as well as the current U.S. Department of Defense anti-terrorism standards (ATFP) for blast and progressive collapse resistance. The ConXL™ SMF connection is approved by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development ("OSHPD") for use in California hospital facilities and has been codified by the American Institute of Steel Construction ("AISC") and published in the 2010 AISC Seismic Design Manual, for use by structural engineers worldwide. ConXtech licenses its fabrication technologies, methods, and processes to a growing network of certified fabricators and erectors around the world.

Due to its open design layout with long-span glass windows and flexible open bays without diagonal braces, the ConXtech, Inc. system was the optimal solution for this Student Healthcare structure on the San Jose State University Campus. On a bustling campus with over 32,000 students, the ConXtech frame assembly – which took only 7 days for entire 53,000 SQFT structure – had minimal impact on day-to-day campus activities thanks to its modular assembly and smaller construction footprint. ConXtech appreciates the support and collaboration of Blach Construction Company, Ratcliff Architects, Tipping Structural Engineers, and all the trades partners that made this program a success. Exciting developments are happening in the healthcare construction industry! From the use of modular construction to prefabricated components, the industry is seeing a shift towards more efficient and cost-effective building methods. These innovations not only save time and money during the construction process, but they also lead to improved patient outcomes and experiences. For example, modular construction allows for quicker construction times, reducing disruption to ongoing hospital operations, and prefabricated components can improve the air quality and acoustics in healthcare facilities. The healthcare construction industry is constantly evolving and these advancements are just the beginning of what's to come.

Another fabulous ConXtech Steel Building Topped Out! ConXtech's expertise in Healthcare construction shows in our latest project: Emanate Health's Queen of the Valley Hospital.

Congrats to Kenny Peterson and crew for their flawless safety record and a job well done!

This was a stiff building that required some substantial box columns. As usual, our tolerance and quality were impeccable yielding a perfect fit-up in the field. Kudos Preacero Pellizzari México!

We are so grateful to be a part of supporting the West Covina and Emanate Health's expanded capacity for the growing need and healthcare services at Queen of the Valley Hospital. Thanks to our partners Emanate Health, Turner Construction Company, IMEG Corp, and gkkworks/CannonDesign for your awesome collaboration to make this project a success!

In a post-pandemic world, healthcare construction is more than ever concerned with preventing the spread of infectious diseases. This is where construction materials in the built environment play a monumental role. Starting from a structural frame made from steel - materials matter.

Check out this article by DIRTT on how their industrialized modular construction is using innovative materials to prevent infectious diseases in Healthcare settings.

"Thermofoil, which Burke calls a “workhorse finish in the healthcare space,” is a heat-applied laminate that can be layered and vacuum sealed over substrate, without the germ-catching gaps left by traditional laminates. It’s also easier to clean than standard surfaces."

The most utilized connection in the ConXtech toolkit is actually a gravity connector and not our famous moment frame collar. It features a laser cut bolt saddle as the lowest bolt in a vertical row of bolts, and is designed to assemble in the same “lower and lock” fashion with nearly the same speed as the ConXtech moment collar connections.

Here is a real life example of what we are talking about. This beam is about to to be lowered and locked into our our active MOB project in Everett, WA.
