🌟 Chamber Business Spotlight 🌟
The Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce is proud to spotlight Atascosa Health Center (AHC) and recognize their outstanding commitment to providing quality, compassionate health care services to our community and surrounding areas.
The Atascosa Health Center (AHC) is a community-based 501c3 non-profit health care organization with over 45 years of continued service development in providing comprehensive, quality and prevention focused care, primarily in medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy care services. The AHC’s humble beginning was as a satellite health clinic site sponsored by the San Antonio Based Southwest Migrant Association, Inc in 1976, transitioning to local control in 1978. In August 1978, Atascosa County Commissioner’s Court took over the U.S. Public Health Service grant supported program and became the official sponsor of the satellite clinic. In April 1980 the county turned over the program to the Atascosa Rural Health Initiative (RHI) Clinic, Inc., a newly formed non-profit community and consumer –based corporation. The name of the corporation was changed to the Atascosa Health Center, Inc. (AHC) in 2001.
From 2000 to 2021, AHC went through a major evolution to form seven sites in five counties to form a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Organization encompassing 5,019 square miles in rural South Texas. The target population is low income, uninsured, and those under-insured. There is a sliding discount fee scale, based on income, but no one is ever turned away for their inability to pay.
During this evolution, in 2012, a building was purchased in Three Rivers, Texas and the Atascosa Health Center open the doors of the Live Oak Community Health Center (LOCHC) to serve the community. On Thursday, August 8, 2024, the Live Oak Community Health Center celebrated with a grant Opening for the new facility built at 300 E Martin Street. LOCHC served almost 2,000 patients alone in 2025. The Live Oak Community Health Center is a vital part of the Three Rivers community, providing crucial medical care, participating in Chamber of Commerce meetings, as well as community events like outreach events and parades. LOCHC is supported by an amazing team of dedicated staff and two exceptional providers, Dr. Dockery and Nurse Practitioner Roselia Zamora-Pollard, who are committed to compassionate, patient-centered care. Together, we strive to create a welcoming environment where every patient feels heard, respected, and well cared for.
We thank Atascosa Health Center and the Live Oak Community Health Center team for their continued partnership, community involvement, and dedication to improving the health and well-being of our residents. The Chamber is honored to spotlight their organization and the meaningful impact they make every day in Three Rivers and the surrounding communities.
