🚫 Shame them
🚫 Mock their fear
🚫 Force independence through fear
🚫 Say “There’s nothing to be scared of”
To their brain, there is.

What Helps Instead:

✅ Calm reassurance
✅ Predictable bedtime routine
✅ Emotional connection during the day
✅ Gentle boundaries with safety
✅ Teaching regulation, not fear
Safety first. Independence comes later.

Reframe This:

Your child isn’t trying to control you.
They’re trying to regulate themselves.
They come to you because you are their safety.

Final Message:

Children don’t grow out of anxiety by being pushed away.
They grow out of it by feeling safe enough to let go.
