OBITUARY

Vernella Bryant-AKA- Snooty was born May 3rd, 1948, in Kelford, North Carolina, to the late Alice Johnson and Sam Nelson. She departed this life January 24th, 2024.
Vernella moved from North Carolina in the early 60’s when she graduated from Pleasantville High School. She met and married the late Harry Bryant. She worked part time at Washes Inn as a bartender and then started working at Harrah’s as a dealer to move on and retired from Caesars Casino as a dealer. Vernella also loved playing cards with her friends often.
Vernella leaves her passion daughters to cherish her memories: Sharon Bryant of Cols Ohio, LaTonya Haines of Galloway, NJ and Delta Bryant of Linwood, NJ. 10 Grandchildren: SharRon Bryant, Duran Neil Jr., Mercedez Epps (Qua Epps), Shakia Thorpe, Gregory Haines, Ny’eja Austin, Yusuf Scott, Terrence Moses JR, Marquise Moses and J’Mere Moses. 8 Great-Grandchildren. 3 Sisters: Ms. Mary Johnson, Ms. Novella Parker, Ms. Yvonne Lawrence and 1 brother: Willie Lee Johnson, all from Pleasantville, NJ and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

OBITUARY

Richard Gerald Smith affectionately known as Kashmir Ali Bey, departed this life on November 21st, 2023. He was born June 7th, 1954 to the late Rebecca M. Fitzgerald and Henry Smith in Atlantic City, NJ.

Ricard attended Atlantic City Public Schools receiving his high school diploma from Atlantic City High School in 1972. After high school Kashmir enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974 serving 4 years of service being honorably discharged in 1978.

He later went on to work for Local 415 as a construction laborer. While working with Local 415 he helped build the Taj Mahal in 1988. Also taking part in building the Convention Center in 1997. With the experience and knowledge Kashmir went on to form a construction company with long time friend and brother Mel Free El, Floor Man Construction. Later renaming to ORIGINAL PHOENIX CONSTRUCTION LLC.

Kashmir loved to be around family and friends. He was a devoted father he loved spending time with his children sharing stories or just simply offering his guidance and support and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. Kashmir was eager to share his knowledge with others.

Kashmir was a man full of peace, was very wise, and had the most gentle, loving, caring spirit! There is nothing Kashmir loved more than his family. His heart was pure and full of love Kashmir loved everyone whom he came across. Kashmir was an honorable man he was an extraordinary protector and provider. Always kind to others, he never criticized nor judged instead he offered motivation and kind words in hopes to make better out of anyone or any situation.

Kashmir is preceded in death by his mother Rebecca M Fitzgerald. 4 brothers, Ronald Smith, Michael Smith, Edward Smith and Steven Smith. 3 Sisters, Mary Jane Spence, Sarada Smith and Sharon Fitzgerald. Kashmir is survived by 1 sister, Ramona Smith. Kashmir leaves to mourn his children Rashard Smith, Rashema Smith, Steven Smith, Rasheeda Smith, Sameera Smith, Leon Henry, Amirah Henry, and Robert Henry. Kashmir also leaves to mourn his lifetime partner Rosemarie L Henry (Babydoll). And also a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Kashmir will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to his cherish his wife; Patricia A. Fann-Michael and his sons Thomas C. Michael, Sr. (Yvette) Mark J. Michael (Torrina) and 6 grandchildren.

OBITUARY

Geniece Snowden-Thompson born September 24,1978 to Marsha Williams Perry and John David Snowden in Atlantic City, NJ. Geniece was the second oldest of three. She grew up in Carver Hall later moving to the Westside area. Those who knew her called her Nana Boo. Geniece started her schooling in Atlantic City and finished in Pleasantville, NJ.

She met the love of her life Kenneth (KT) Thompson Sr. in 1997 and later married in 2005. Geniece and Kenneth raised her two oldest Shaqwan and Johnnette, then in 1999 they had their third child Kenneth Jr..

Geniece had a few jobs, but the best job she ever had was being a stay at home mom raising their 5 children.If you knew her you knew there was nothing she would'nt do for her children and grandchildren.

Geniece had a Big Heart. First and foremost she loved the Lord, her family, children, grandchildren and close friends. She could be found cooking big dinners, listening to some good music and didn't mind having great company. She helped so many people who truly needed it and didn't ask for anything back.

Geniece was predeceased by: her father John David Snowden; paternal grandmother Elnora Nixon; Aunt Sally Ann Contreras; Godmother Annette Lee Pettus, Cousins Nikita and Sherwood Cross and close friend Deisha Hood.

OBITUARY

Charles Henry Williams Jr, known as Butnik, was born in the Bronx, New York on December 25, 1968, and grew up in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. Butnik traveled a lot, living in various places throughout his life. Pleasantville, New Jersey was his home and sadly where his life would end.

Throughout his life, Butnik was very good at sports, with basketball being his favorite. After some years in high school, Butnik enrolled in Job Corps in Kittrell, NC. During his time there, Butnik received basketball awards. May 7, 1999, Butnik graduated from James Sprunt Community College with a certification in Welding Technology. Butnik loved to work with his hands and welding allowed him to do just that. He worked in plant welding and various casinos like Tropicana and Harrah’s.

Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved. Butnik was baptized on February 17, 1999.

Butnik loved to make people laugh. He always had a funny story to tell or something silly to say. His memory was phenomenal and often recalled things others had forgotten. He often shared stories about his journey throughout life including childhood memories, family stories, and stories about his buddies from Elizabethtown. Butnik spoke highly about his family, his loving mother, sister, and his cousins Debbie and Rodney to mention a few. Butnik was charming, and articulate, and could make friends anywhere he went. Tommi Jones Jr was his right-hand man while in New Jersey.

Butnik is survived by his loving mother Deloris Dixon. His sister Patrice Moultrie. His daughter Jazzmen Wright. His nephew James I Lanham III, his Aunt Shirley (Phillip) Smith, and three grandchildren Keishod, Adrian and Janay. He is predeceased in death by his two fathers Charles H Williams Sr and Linnell Dixon and his grandmother Sadie M Torres. He has a host of family, cousins, and friends who appreciate and love the time spent with him. He will be truly missed.

The Bible says that in heaven Christ will “transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious” (Philippians 3:21). You can rest now. We know you were tired. Until we meet again.

The Life of Donald Oneil Fox

Donald, 61, departed this life on October 18, 2023. He was born to the late John Authur Fox and Geraldine Fox in September 22, 1962, in Sanford, North Carolina. Donald grew up in Atlantic City, New Jersey where he attended Atlantic City High School. Donald started his career off as a cook at the Flying Cloud for 7 years. He later went on to further his education at ACCC, where he studied electronics. After graduating, he began to work in the casino industry.

Donald had a heart of gold and is very well loved. He enjoyed watching football, especially when his team Dallas Cowboys played. He also had a passion for fishing. Donald is well known for his unique sense of humor, and could make anyone smile. He had a quiet like spirit and was very genuine.

Donald found his soulmate of 32 years and they had two daughters. Donald was so proud of them and loved them dearly. Donald was an amazing husband, father friend, and will be missed forever.

Donald was preceded in death by his sister Sheila Milbourne.

He leaves behind his wife; Sorelena Fox, his daughters Jasmine S. Fox, Aleesha M. Fox: his siblings, Jeffery Fox (Margie), Karen Myers (Carl), John Fox (Susan), Tonya McKinley (Robert), sister in law Violeta Bosquez and extended brother Anthony Williams; his nephews and nieces; Jeffery Fox Jr., Kevin Fox, Kristopher Fox, Jessica Fox, Brittney Myers , Lauren Rawlings, Sierra Fox, Tiana McKinley, Jamir Fox, Zahir Milbourne, Nazir Milbourne.
