Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses & Allied Professionals Pennsylvania’s Fastest Growing Union of Frontline Nurses and Healthcare Professionals

Founded by nurses and for nurses, PASNAP works to set better standards for patients and health professionals alike. As members of a professional union, we have a legal right to negotiate as equals over things that impact our jobs and our ability to care for patients. We’re stronger together — and our patients receive better care because of it. That's why PASNAP is Pennsylvania's fastest growing union for healthcare professionals.

As frontline nurses and health professionals, we’ve seen what happens when our patients can’t afford health insurance:

“Patients will end up in the emergency room. People will skip their meds. They’ll ration. Our patients will be sicker coming into the ER,” said Maureen May, president of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals “These are the consequences of 150,000 people losing their premium cuts and being able to take care of them and their families.”

“This bill that does not in any way address the health care crisis, and only includes a vague reference to a promise of a senate vote a month from now, is wholly insufficient to address the health care crisis facing the American people,” Boyle said

If Congress fails to act to restore enhanced premium tax subsidies for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, healthcare in Pennsylvania will be thrown into chaos.

And caregivers know exactly what happens next:

• Patients delay care or skip medications.

• They end up in emergency rooms far sicker and with fewer options.

• Hospitals absorb those costs, weakening already fragile systems.

• Services get cut for everyone – not just those who get their insurance on the marketplace. Hospitals close for everyone. And communities lose their lifeline.

Healthcare isn’t a privilege. It’s a lifeline. It’s a right.

Today we honor those who have served in our armed forces who stood their ground to protect the freedoms we all share. They aren't distant heroes. They're our friends, our family, our coworkers, our community members, and our Union siblings. The same values that drive us in our hospitals—justice, fairness, and solidarity—are the values they defend. Thank you to all who have served.

This is unacceptable.

This horrible, violent attack is the latest example of rising violence against healthcare workers. But Pennsylvania is on the precipice of change with The Healthcare Workplace Violence Prevention Act. Caregivers deserve to be able to safely provide our patients with quality care.

"Where are these patients going to go," says [Renita] Robinson. "It's quite a distance to go to Reading Hospital, and these are older citizens of the community at Pottstown Hospital that rely heavily on Pottstown Hospital for treatment."

Major cuts were announced at Tower Health on Friday and hundreds are now out of a job.

Tower Health is planning on slashing critical services at Pottstown Hospital, including their ICU and Cancer Infusion Center. Hundreds of caregivers found out they could be losing their jobs today with a standardized blase email sent to all staff at once, just hours before it was reported in the news. This is not only disrespectful to caregivers, this will be disastrous for our patients and healthcare in Pottstown as a whole.

A large portion of the job losses will be through the closure of programs at Pottstown Hospital.

This is a disaster. If Tower Health goes through with their decision to gut services at Pottstown Hospital, it will be a DEVASTATING blow to the community. Our patients rely on these critical services.

It’s National Radiologic Technologist Week!
Today, we’re celebrating the amazing Radiologic Techs at Butler Memorial Hospital — part of the historic group that voted overwhelmingly to unionize with PASNAP earlier this year.
This national observance coincides with the anniversary of the discovery of the X-ray on November 8, 1895 — a reminder of how vital imaging professionals are to modern medicine.
💙 Thank you to all Radiologic Technologists and imaging professionals for your skill, dedication, and care every single day.

This is unacceptable. The violence against healthcare workers is escalating across this board. Healthcare workers deserve a safe place to provide our patients the quality care they deserve.
