This month we celebrate Social Work Month, recognizing the dedication and empathy social workers across the country deliver while providing services to children and adults in need. Social workers are advocates, advisors, counselors and facilitators in schools, clinics, business and government offices.

We would like to thank our social workers: Rachel S., Brittnie V., Jillian S., Brienna F., Riley M., Robin L., Sue F. and our Clinical Director Patricia L, who act as essential, fast paced patient advocates bridging the gap between medical care, emotional support and discharge planning. Our social workers work hard managing crises and assisting families while providing safe and long term recovery for our patients. Thank you for all that you do!

On Friday, we came together as a community to honor those we have lost to overdose. Thank you to our Outpatient Director, Maggie, for sharing information about the Intensive Outpatient Programs offered at Michiana Behavioral Health, and to Vicki, Executive Director of Dustin’s Place, for leading the event and guiding us through meaningful ways to remember our loved ones.

During the event, attendees wrote their fondest memories on rice paper and sealed them inside bubbles—sending heartfelt messages gently upward, symbolically carrying our love to the sky.

Guests also enjoyed lunch and had the opportunity to meet members of the Michiana Behavioral Health leadership team.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. You are not alone. We have someone available 24/7 to talk with you.

Teen dating violence is more common than many people think. One in three teens in the United States will experience physical, sexual or emotional abuse by someone they are in a relationship with.

In a world full of mixed messages, one thing that centers around the truth is that respect is non-negotiable. We need to empower our adolescents and teens to recognize harmful patterns early. Bring awareness to teen dating violence to stop the abuse before it starts.

If you know someone who has experienced teen dating violence and may be in crisis, call Michiana Behavioral Health today at 574-936-3784.
