Functional Fitness Friday!

It's been awhile, but here's a great stretch for tight hip abductor and adductor muscles. Start by placing yourself on all fours with your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips, preferably on an exercise mat for comfort. Keeping your hands on the mat, raise one knee out horizontally as high as possible, then switch sides. To add a progression to this, try drawing circles in the air when the leg is extended out. Give it a try!

Start by getting into a push up position. Place your hands under your shoulders. Keeping your body in a straight line, bring one knee up to your chest then set the foot down. Return the foot to the starting position and repeat with the other side. This exercise is great for core activation.

Announcing RehabFit’s 8-Week Preseason Ski/Snowboarding Strength & Conditioning Program!

The program begins, Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Registration forms are available in the gym by the computer kiosk.

RehabFit Member Cost: $150
RehabFit Non-Member Cost: $185

The class is open to the first 10 participants that register and pay.
Additional classes will be added if needed.

Functional Fitness Friday!

Plank Progression:
Start by coming down onto the ground on all fours. Come up onto your elbows, keeping the body in a straight line. Make sure your head is down and your hips and back are in line with the rest of your body. Hold this position for 10-20 seconds. Raise your left arm and hold this position for 10-20 seconds. Switch sides. Come back to all fours, then raise your left leg straight in the air and hold this position for 10-20 seconds. Switch sides. This exercise targets your abdominal and lower back muscles to strengthen your core. This will improve posture, balance, coordination, and will help to prevent injury.
