As we celebrate Veterans Day at BID Plymouth, we are deeply thankful for the service, sacrifice, and courage of all who have served.

This week, we proudly recognize Major Rose Almonacid, one of the many heroes we honor. At BID Plymouth, Rose serves as a Quality Improvement Coordinator, helping to create exceptional patient experiences and outcomes. Beyond our walls, she serves in the Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Westover Air Reserve Base, with 11 years in the Air Force and three deployments both stateside and overseas.

Now a Flight Commander, Rose leads a team of 15 airmen, ensuring their readiness to deliver care in flight — literally a “hospital in the air.”

We are deeply grateful for Rose’s leadership, compassion, and commitment. ❤️🤍💙

Congratulations to James Matthew Koomey, MD, and the care team for their important contribution to the field of cancer care. We proudly welcomed our new Medical Staff President, Steven Koufman Leckie, MD. 🎉

Dr. Leckie opened his first Medical Executive Committee meeting by sharing a heartfelt story and a cherished family heirloom: the gavel once used by his grandfather, Clinton Koufman, MD, when he served as Medical Staff President at Beth Israel (now BIDMC) in the 1970s.

Dr. Koufman’s remarkable career at BIDMC spanned more than 50 years, from general surgery to breast cancer surgery, leaving a lasting legacy of dedication and compassion.

It was inspiring to see Dr. Leckie, an accomplished orthopedic surgeon, carry that legacy forward — a beautiful reminder of the enduring impact of family, patient care, and service. 💙

Respiratory Therapists are integral members of the healthcare team, providing critical expertise in the management of life-support systems, ventilator care, and advanced respiratory therapies. They are often at the bedside during our most urgent moments, delivering skilled and compassionate care to patients experiencing complex and life-threatening respiratory conditions.
