Miller's Merry Manor offers free CNA classes! If you are interested in a career in healthcare come to Miller's. We will teach you all you need to know about becoming a CNA. After completing CNA coursework and accreditation, Miller's also offers QMA training. Miller's also offers a books and tuition program to become a nurse.

Today is National Doctors' Day! 🩺 Miller's appreciates all our local doctors and all they do for our residents. While Dr. Holm is the Medical Director for our skilled nursing facility, residents are still free to see their own doctor if they so choose.

To show Miller's appreciation, we delivered snack boxes (filled with fresh baked cookies and brownies) to all the local doctor offices. Once again, thank you for the excellent care you provide to our residents!

Real Services in Marshall County offers many forms of assistance for our seniors. One service is senior meal sites. Monday through Friday, any senior can receive a nutritious meal for a small donation. Plymouth's Dietary Manager, Tammy Parker, spoke to a group about senior dietary concerns. She spoke about as our appetite decreases we need to make sure our calories in are not "empty" calories. We need to make sure we are drinking enough water. Eating with others may make food more enjoyable. Smaller more frequent meals might help also. We need to make sure that we are getting adequate nutrition to keep us healthy.

It's again! Lucinda has been at Miller's for a couple of weeks, following a couple weeks in the hospital. She has been working hard to get stronger so she can return home. She feels like she is making good progress, but wishes it could go faster. Keep up the hard work Lucinda. You will get there!

Today we are celebrating Tammy Parker's 25 years of service at Miller's Merry Manor! Tammy is the Dietary Manager at Plymouth. Bryan, our Executive Director, presented her a Miller's watch to mark this momentous occasion at the corporate Dietary Manager's meeting. Congratulations, Tammy! We appreciate all you do for the residents!

Tuesday was St. Patrick's Day and Miller's celebrated by going green! 🍀💚 As you can see, the staff really took their greenness seriously! The residents always enjoy seeing some of the over-the-top attire. We had a lot of participation, but six really stood out. Thank you for helping to put a smile on the residents' faces! It makes the holiday fun.

Mike Lintner is a part time driver for our campus. He is also a very talented singer! Mike was kind enough to share his talents with us earlier this week. Everyone enjoyed the music.

A big part of caring for residents is the Care Plan Meeting. Rehab residents have one the first week of stay and another around day 20 if they are still in the facility. Long-term residents have one the first week and then quarterly.

The Care Plan is where everyone "gets on the same page." Social Services, Dietary, Activities, Therapy, and Nursing all meet with the resident and their family to plan out goals for the resident's care. For rehab residents the goal is to discharge home. For long-term care residents the goal is to meet their care needs with dignity and respect and to make their stay as enjoyable as possible. Residents and families can request extra Care Plans to address any concerns or when there is a significant change in the resident's status.

The Care Plan helps give each resident (and their families) a voice in their care. Residents' stays go much smoother when everyone involved knows what is going on. Miller's strives to keep everyone informed!

Today is World Social Work Day! Doug Brenner will have worked for Miller's for 29 years in the fall as the Social Services Director. Doug runs the care plans for residents and sets up their home health care services when they are discharging. Doug is the go to person when a resident needs something. A fun fact is that Doug's son is now the Assistant Social Services Director at Miller's Merry Manor - Walkerton.

What Doug really likes about his job is having the opportunity to interact with the residents and their families and to help meet their needs. Doug is really good at his job and it shows.

Celebrated on the second Wednesday in March during National Nutrition Month, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day increases awareness of registered dietitian nutritionists as the indispensable providers of food and nutrition services and recognizes RDNs for their commitment to helping people enjoy healthy lives.

"My name is Denise Knepp and I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian and have been with Miller’s for nearly 38 years. It has been my pleasure to serve our residents, employees, families, and communities over the years. I love our company and believe in our core values of integrity, passion, stewardship, adaptation, and growth and have witnessed our leaders and dedicated staff living out these values every day. I absolutely love serving our elderly through our premier dining services and the provision of nutritious, well-balanced meals that we RDs have planned. I enjoy working with our talented and loyal dietary staff who “go above and beyond to” provide delicious foods, resident food preferences, and menu selections even through specialized diets."

Denise continued, "I have a daughter and son, who are both married and I have been married to Terry for 36 years. We love family time and enjoy nature through hiking, camping, biking, and gardening. We have visited over 25 National Parks and plan to visit 3 more this fall. We are avid sports fans, with baseball being my favorite. We have also been to over 15 MLB ballparks and plan to visit more."

Today we are showing a typical resident meal. Our Adult Day Services and Respite Stay programs include meals. We offer a "special" every day, but if the resident does not like that offering they can order from the ala carte menu. Every resident is asked what they would like for every meal. Today's special is goulash, mixed vegetables, a breadstick, and salad.
