This month we are celebrating National Long-Term Care Awareness Month. The residents here are treated like family because they are family. We laugh, cry, joke, comfort, and care for and with every resident here. Miller's staff are not here just for the paycheck but because they care. The fun little interactions are what make our day.

As Thanksgiving draws near we asked residents what they are thankful for. Rose and Ed had very different thoughts, but both are thankful that they are being well cared for. We will post more thanks over the next week.

Today is Tuesday, so what better reason to do a testimonial? Gerry came to Miller's for rehab at the end of October. After a small health set-back, Gerry is making great progress. He is working very hard so he can go home for the holidays. His wife, Marilyn said, "Gerry is getting excellent care here and the staff is so nice!"

On Friday Miller's Merry Manor and Miller's Senior Living Community hosted a beef and noodle fundraiser for Operation Quiet Comfort. It went so well that halfway through we had to switch to chicken and noodles because we ran out of beef and noodles!

For a free will donation, each meal consisted of beef (or chicken) and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a cookie. We received over $1,400 in donations (some donations came in after the giant check) for OQC to help our troops. It was an amazing turnout for a very worth while organization! Thank you to everyone that came out and supported!

Miller's has three new CNAs! Lea, Noah, and Baleigh worked very hard to complete their CNA training course. They first passed the written exam, then they had the "skills" testing. They all passed on their first try! Welcome to Miller's. We are pleased to be working with you!

This week is National Nurse Practitioner (NP) Week. Ali Schroder is the Nurse Practitioner for Plymouth from Provider Partners Health Plans. PPHP is a Medicare Advantage Plan that Miller's partners with to benefit long-term care residents. Ali became a Nurse Practitioner in March and started working for PPHP right away. She is in the building weekly to see her residents.

Today we are highlighting our Adult Day Services program. Do you have things that you really need to do, but worry about leaving Mom or Dad home alone? Would you like to take your time shopping, or just have some "me" time without the worry?

Miller's offers an Adult Day Services program that can help you with this. You can drop Mom or Dad off for a few hours while you are doing what you need to do knowing that they will be well cared for. They can receive a meal and participate in the day's activities. They will receive the same attention that the full time residents receive.

Today is Veterans Day. We want to thank and honor all the Veterans for their service and sacrifices. Center for Hospice and the Disabled American Veterans held a beautiful service for our Veterans today. Each Veteran received a certificate honoring them, a charge coin, a goodie basket (specifically tailored to their dietary needs), and were "pinned."

Susan Schlamersdorf, Patient Advocate, Karin Fisher, Volunteer Coordinator, and Trisha Deisch (with Millie), represented Center for Hospice. Daniel LaFountaine and Wally Gorski represented the DAV. Trisha and Millie are also part of the Canines 4 Christ Organization.

The ceremony started with the reading of several poems about Veterans and their service and sacrifices. Then each Veteran was recognized, pinned, and given their goodie baskets. The ceremony ended with the Lee Greenwood rendition of I'm 'Proud to be an American.'

Miller's wants to honor our pictured Veterans: Paul Yelton, Bob Beiter, David Morguson, Ron Knisley, Larry Klinedinst, and Jim Gross. Our other Veterans who were unable to attend the ceremony are: Dennis Struble, Lance Bumpus, William Doan, and Brad Peltz. Thank you for helping to keep our nation safe and free!

Today starts National Nurse Practitioner Week. Mandie Maddox has been a Nurse Practitioner for two years. She has been practicing with Dr. Holm for about a year and a half. Mandie comes in for visits with residents twice a week. She is available by phone whenever a nurse needs to talk to her about a resident.

Join us for our Beef & Noodle Drive-Thru Dinner on Friday, November 14th from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm in front of Miller's Senior Living Community (assisted living side).

All proceeds go to Operation Quiet Comfort to help support our troops. This is a free will donations event. Give what you can and enjoy a delicious meal while making a difference! Let's come together as a community to show our appreciation and support for those who serve!
