MSDC empowers individuals with disabilities through day services, employment, residential support, Head Start, and community programs across Marshall, Starke, Pulaski, St. Beginning in 1965, Marshall-Starke provided a wide range of rehabilitative services to developmentally disabled individuals. Adult services have further been enhanced through the promotion of community employment and the provision of valuable production alternatives for area business and industry which has resulted in positive and successful relationships in our communities. From these modest beginnings, Marshall-Starke branched into early childhood education for non-disabled and at-risk children through our Head Start, Early Head Start, and Healthy Families programs. The programs and services offered through Marshall-Starke and recognized by national accreditations, such as CARF and NAEYC, substantiate what recipients of our services have known for over 40 years that Marshall-Starke promotes a culture of compassion and a commitment to accountability.

🏀🔥 SPECIAL OLYMPICS 2026 🔥🏀

We are beyond proud of our athletes.

What you’re about to see isn’t just basketball. It’s determination. Teamwork. Courage. Confidence. Growth.

Our participants showed up, competed hard, supported one another, and represented MSDC and Manitou Center with heart. Every single athlete gave it their all — and it shows in these photos.

This album is FULL because this day was full. Full of smiles. Full of effort. Full of community.

Take a few minutes to scroll through and celebrate these incredible athletes with us. Drop a 👏 in the comments to show them some love.

We are so proud of you all. 💙🏅

🏀 This past Sunday was all about teamwork, confidence, and community!

Some of our very own participants took part in the basketball tournament held at Culver Community High School, and we couldn’t be more proud of how they showed up and represented. Our participants play basketball through Special Olympics, and events like this give them the opportunity to compete, grow, and shine on and off the court.

🥇 Wildcats Team
Several MSDC participants competed as part of the Wildcats team. While not all team members were from MSDC, we’re excited to share that the Wildcats brought home GOLD!

🥈 Manitou Fulton County Dream Team
Participants from our Manitou Center competed on the Manitou Fulton County Dream Team. While not all players were Manitou participants, the team had an incredible showing and earned SILVER.

Events like this are about more than medals. They’re about inclusion, teamwork, confidence, and creating opportunities for individuals to participate, compete, and succeed.

💃🕺 Did you miss Dancing With the Stars on Saturday? Marshall County Neighborhood Center
No worries—we’ve got you covered!

Check out these amazing photos of Jaiden and Layrn, two of our participants, absolutely breaking out the moves at this wonderful event. ✨

What you’re seeing here is more than dancing. This took courage, confidence, and a whole lot of heart. Stepping onto that dance floor in front of a crowd isn’t easy, and they did it with joy, determination, and pride—and absolutely crushed it. We couldn’t be prouder.

A huge thank you to our incredible DSPs and staff who supported them every step of the way, encouraged them, practiced with them, and even served as choreographers along the journey. That behind-the-scenes support makes moments like this possible, and it truly shows.

Moments like this remind us—and everyone watching—that our participants can do anything. This is self-expression, confidence, and possibility in action.

Be sure to check out more photos from the day, captured beautifully by Photography by Jayme.

Belonging isn’t one big moment. It’s built through everyday connections.

This is what inclusion looks like in our community.

Belonging happens here.

Every day at MSDC, individuals are supported in ways that help them feel seen, valued, and connected. Inclusion isn’t just a goal. It’s something we practice daily.

Share this moment to show what belonging looks like.
