Marshall-Starke Development Center, Inc. Joesph, Miami, Wabash, Kosciusko, and Fulton Counties.

MSDC empowers individuals with disabilities through day services, employment, residential support, Head Start, and community programs across Marshall, Starke, Pulaski, St. Beginning in 1965, Marshall-Starke provided a wide range of rehabilitative services to developmentally disabled individuals. Adult services have further been enhanced through the promotion of community employment and the provisi

on of valuable production alternatives for area business and industry which has resulted in positive and successful relationships in our communities. From these modest beginnings, Marshall-Starke branched into early childhood education for non-disabled and at-risk children through our Head Start, Early Head Start, and Healthy Families programs. The programs and services offered through Marshall-Starke and recognized by national accreditations, such as CARF and NAEYC, substantiate what recipients of our services have known for over 40 years that Marshall-Starke promotes a culture of compassion and a commitment to accountability.

Support makes this possible.

Every program MSDC offers exists because people in this community choose to show up — through awareness, advocacy, volunteering, and giving.

If MSDC's work resonates with you, the most powerful thing you can do right now is share this page. Awareness is how we grow. Thank you for being part of this.

Empowerment is one of our core values — and it's at the heart of why we do this work.

At Marshall-Starke Development Center, empowerment means helping individuals discover what they're capable of, build on their strengths, and step into their own independence.

Empowerment isn't something we give. It's something we create the conditions for — through trust, support, and genuine belief in every person we serve.

When someone knows they are capable and supported, everything changes.

This is what occupational therapy looks like.

OT isn't just a clinical service — it's a pathway to independence. At MSDC, occupational therapy helps individuals build the everyday skills that allow them to live, work, and participate more fully in community life.

This month, we're grateful for every OT, every session, and every breakthrough that happens right here.

At MSDC, progress looks different for every person we support.

Sometimes it's learning a new skill. Sometimes it's building a new friendship. Sometimes it's simply showing up and feeling like you belong.

Every step forward matters.

Community is one of our core values — and it shows up in everything we do.

At Marshall-Starke Development Center, community isn't just a word. It's the reason we exist. It's the network of neighbors, partners, families, and supporters who make inclusion possible in Marshall County.

Community is built one relationship at a time. Every conversation, every collaboration, every shared moment adds to it.

Thank you for being part of ours.

One of our core values at Marshall-Starke Development Center and Manitou Center is Choice.

Choice means that every individual we serve has a voice in their own life — in how they spend their time, what goals they pursue, and how they want to grow.

When people are given real choices, they build real confidence. That's not a small thing. That's everything.

We believe choice isn't a privilege. It's a right — and it's one we work to protect every single day.

Independence looks different for everyone — and that's something worth celebrating.

At MSDC, we support adults with disabilities in building the skills, confidence, and connections that help them live fuller lives.

Every individual we serve is capable of growth. Our job is to be in their corner.
