This advanced training strengthens our understanding of how reflex development impacts posture, regulation, motor skills, and functional participation across the lifespan. We are excited to bring these strategies back to the families and children we serve every day. Thank you to Pamela for sharing your knowledge and passion—and to our therapists for continually pursuing growth to better support our families! 🧠

Today we are celebrating a very special milestone, BreeLynn has officially graduated from Occupational Therapy! 💛

From the very beginning, BreeLynn has shown determination, resilience, and so much heart. She has worked hard on her goals, built new skills, and gained confidence every step of the way. Watching her grow stronger and more independent has been such a joy for our team.

Hi everyone! We’re Kaylin Brown and Falyn Farmer, licensed Occupational Therapists and certified Spelling to Communicate (S2C) practitioners. We’re so excited to introduce Motor 2 Meaning, where we provide S2C services to individuals and families across Arkansas.

Spelling to Communicate (S2C) is a motor-based communication approach designed to support nonspeaking and minimally speaking individuals in developing reliable communication through spelling. Many individuals with autism and other neurodevelopmental differences understand far more than they are physically able to express. S2C focuses on building the motor skills needed to point to letters and spell out thoughts — giving individuals a meaningful way to share their intelligence, personality, humor, and ideas.

At the heart of our work is presuming competence. We begin with the understanding that difficulty with speech does not equal lack of understanding. For many nonspeakers, the barrier is not cognitive — it is motor.

Apraxia and motor planning differences can significantly impact a person’s ability to produce intentional, functional speech. The brain may know exactly what it wants to say, but the body struggles to execute those movements reliably. This can show up as inconsistent speech, scripting, or becoming stuck in motor loops — repetitive movements or vocalizations that are reflexively/impulsively driven rather than intentional communication. These motor loops can affect both speech and body movement, making purposeful communication difficult despite strong comprehension.

S2C is grounded in principles of motor learning and neuroscience and is designed to build intentional motor pathways for communication. Families across the country have experienced meaningful, life-changing communication breakthroughs when individuals are given access to a motor-based pathway for expression.

We believe communication is a human right. Every individual deserves access to a reliable way to express their thoughts.

We’re so excited to celebrate two of our Occupational Therapists at Integrated Therapy Services who have officially completed the Spelling to Communicate (S2C) Practitioner program! 🎉 Over the past 6 months, these OTs committed to an intensive certification process that included weekly coursework and assignments, bi-weekly lectures, and a full week-long immersive internship in Oklahoma—all while continuing to serve our families at ITS. This was no small feat, and their dedication reflects countless hours of learning, practicing, and refining their clinical skills.

Spelling to Communicate (S2C) is an evidence-informed, motor-based approach that supports nonspeaking and minimally speaking individuals in accessing communication through purposeful motor support and spelling. S2C presumes competence and focuses on the connection between motor planning, regulation, and meaningful communication, allowing individuals to share their thoughts, knowledge, and voice in a reliable way.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work and heart Kaylin Brown and Falyn Farmer poured into this journey and are thrilled to expand S2C services at ITS.
