Ever wonder why you enjoy giving gifts and offering service around the holiday season? Our brains release oxytocin - a hormone/neurotransmitter from the posterior pituitary gland - during acts of giving. This oxytocin promotes prosocial behaviors such as: social trust, cooperation, empathy, and altruism. All are essential for brain health and social connectedness (and especially important during this time of year, am I right?). 🎁

Have you heard of Blood Flow Restriction?

Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training allows muscle growth and strength gains using light loads by creating chemical, not mechanical, stress within the muscle. By partially restricting blood flow, BFR increases metabolic stress and stimulates protein synthesis and growth hormone release—key drivers of hypertrophy (muscle growth). It’s an effective tool for building or maintaining muscle when heavy lifting isn’t possible, making it valuable in both rehab and performance settings and prepares you for strength gains!
