Miscarriage is the most common complication of pregnancy in the U.S., with up to one million cases annually, according to the National Institutes of Health. There are many different reasons that a miscarriage can occur, but no matter the cause, the feelings of grief experienced by a mother and her family are all-encompassing.
In 2024, more than 350 women came into our Emergency Department experiencing a miscarriage. Though we provide needed medical and bereavement support and resources to our patients, we are deeply grateful to have a partner in Forever Footprints, which regularly donates memory boxes, sibling backpacks and memory bags for our mothers and families who experience miscarriage.
These kits give our families an opportunity to create memories with their beloved child and help them to know that they are not alone on their journey.
“Your baby is forever loved and forever remembered”🕊
