Recently, we had the privilege and honor of hosting a stick mobility class at our studio with ! Stick mobility is a low impact, full body workout using a weighted stick to improve joint range of motion, flexibility, and strength. We loved seeing lots of different people come out and meeting new faces. Can’t wait to do it again! Join us at our next one! 💪

It’s the first day of the week and if your morning has been anything like mine, it’s already a little bit chaotic. The late school drop off, the rush to work, the decision to make or buy coffee, the long line at the drive-through when you decide to buy the coffee. ☕️

Probably not the best start for our nervous system. But thankfully we are resilient, and our brains and bodies can adapt. So when you get a minute, slowly sip the coffee, take some deep belly breaths, expose yourself to the cold which stimulates the vagus nerve (easy here right now in the NorthEast), or try some acupressure tapping (gently on eyebrows, side of eyes, under eyes, under nose, chin, below collarbone, under arms, and top of head) to reset and regulate.

Happy Monday ❄️

We are two months into a brand new year and wanted to re-introduce you to pelvic floor therapy.

This is pelvic floor therapy 101.

It’s for everyone, every gender, every stage of life. Not just new moms, or high-level athletes, or seasoned folks dealing with prolapse.

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that need attention and care, just like other muscles in the body. They’re literally in the center of the body and connect to different bodily systems, to our brain, to our mood, to our routines and lifestyles, to our relationships, and to our quality of life.

We’re back with a new series where we answer common questions you have!

Question for Dr. Olga: If I’m leaking, does that mean, I have a weak pelvic floor?

Lots of people think that they have a “weak pelvic floor” if they notice some leaking. Now while this may be true, there are lots of other issues that can cause leakage that don’t necessarily have to do with weak muscles. This is why doing hundreds of Kegel‘s doesn’t work for everybody and can sometimes do more harm than good.

If you have any questions about pelvic health, exercises, wellness, menopause, or anything about women’s or men’s health, send them in and we’d love to address them!

The nervous system is a hot topic but it’s truly the core of how our body and brain function. How we regulate our nervous system flows into all of our other systems. As we enter Q4, take advantage of some of these strategies to reset. Your pelvic floor will especially thank you! 🙏

As we enter the season of gratitude, we’re taking a moment to reflect on all the ways our bodies carry us through life. 🍂

Many of us get caught in the hustle and bustle of the next couple of months, but don’t forget to take some time to remember all the things we are grateful for. Don’t forget to thank your body- even the parts that are still healing. Every step counts towards wellness. 💛

Here’s a simple visual of what we show clients to help them understand the core connection to pelvic health and how all the components work together to prevent pelvic floor dysfunction, like leaking, prolapse, or pain.

(The rubber chicken is my favorite.)
Hope this helps!

For the last couple of months, we have had the pleasure of hosting a doctoral occupational therapy student at our clinic. Her capstone project was about pelvic floor health for collegiate athletes and we both learned a lot from each other!

DID YOU KNOW 👀
Up to 80% of collegiate athletes experience some form of pelvic floor dysfunction every year? If you or a loved one are experiencing these kinds of issues, we can help!

Stephanie, we will miss you and are grateful for the time you spent with us. Excited to see what you do on your OT journey and the countless lives you will change!

We are human and unfortunately we do all the things! But we give ourselves grace and so should you.
The important thing is to be mindful and find a way back to the healthy routine. 💗

Isn’t anatomy awesome?! 🤓

This is why we always say the pelvic floor never works alone. It’s part of a coordinated and integrated system that works together. Often, if one of these other systems is having an issue, the pelvic floor becomes a victim and that’s when people get all kinds of symptoms. As you can see, it is closely correlated with the core, back, and hips, ribcage, etc. so it’s so important to use a whole body and holistic approach in managing symptoms.
