For over 50 years, reading outcomes in the U.S. haven’t meaningfully improved.
According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP):
• Reading scores in grades 4, 8, and 12 have remained largely flat
• More than 60% of students are not reading at a proficient level
That’s not just a school issue—it affects what happens after students leave the classroom.
In this video, Dr. Tim Conway shares this data at the National Association of Reentry Professionals conference, where professionals focus on workforce reintegration and second-chance opportunities.
